I bought a dress today on very cheap sale at Old Navy. I shouldn't have done it. It's a simple, floor length, greenish/grey jersey dress, but it's well draped, with a racer back and low cut. It's probably meant to be layered over things, but I can get away with it not. And it makes me look like Gorgo from 300. No, really. It's drapey like that, and classic and I have _arms_ now. It's supposed to be this total casual slacker, hippy dress, but I look like I rule nations in it. Which is a little problematic, as I have nowhere appropriate to wear it. I can tell it's going to be my new favourite piece of girl clothing ever. If they still have the black one in my size after I get paid I'm going back for it too. It's really astounding on me.

Meanwhile, I have a casting tomorrow and I'm finally no longer sick! And now a wee bit of web work for me and answering an email I seem to have received from Narcissa Black. Then bed.

Ch, you don't need appropriate places to wear it! Just go out and begin plotting world domination.

I DID AND IT WAS AWESOME.

And then I called some woman a fucking bitch and she told me I needed therapy and sedatives. A GOOD NIGHT ALL AROUND.

Heh, apparently. I don't think I've shouted at a random stranger in the street, um, ever.

Ha! I think I heard them tell someone they were new to the city, so I guess I got to be some tourist's New York experience.

She had shoved her way in front of me- as in, literally pushing me out of the way so she could climb over a rail and stand in with a tree- and then proceeded to get bored waiting and leave and come back four or five times, each time pushing me or stepping on me or using my shoulder for balance, and without saying a word to me. And I didn't say anything, because it's not like she was unaware of how rude she was being; she was clearly doing it to try and get me to move. So then she goes through two or three cigarettes (while standing in the middle of a crowd, yeah), and combed her hair out directly into my face, and started taking off her coat and putting it back on multiple times, which required jostling me. And finally she puts her coat back on again, and in doing so slaps me in the face. So I said, "What the fuck?" and she kind of glanced disdainfully at me, and I said, "You just hit me in the fucking face!"

And she says, "Oh." I said, "You've been stepping on me and shoving me out of the way for the last hour, and just being a selfish bitch. What the fuck? Are you drunk?" And she sort of shrugged and goes, "No, I'm not drunk." I said, "It would make a better excuse if you were."

Her friend stepped in and said, "You should have said 'excuse me'." Which infuriated me, so I said, "Wait. She shoves in front of me, pushes me, steps on me, and hits me in the fucking face, but let me get this clear: I should have said 'excuse me'? Are you kidding me?" And she says, "Well, if you had said 'excuse me' at first, you wouldn't be so stressed out now from having bottled it up." So I just said, "Whatever, fuck all y'all."

And then when they were leaving, about half an hour later, the first woman shouted "therapy and sedatives!" at me, but I no longer cared and just rolled my eyes.

Wow. I now take a moment to have fantasy response: "Actually, no. Swords and blood, but thanks!"

Elephants should not come with assholery.

Hahaha. I was having such cognitive dissonance during the whole thing, because I never get angry. I never pick fights with random people on the street. And yet...

The elephants were awesome. And horses! And little tiny ponies!

If you go here http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/category.do?cid=15292&pageID=1
, and look for the "racer back dress" you can see it in black (so you can't see teh cut) on a wman who isn't built like me at all (so it looks way less low cut on her. But it is there. On me it hangs very straight and classic.

The page dedicated to the dress seems to be gone though -- when I click on it I get page not found.

I love the tiny ponies, because they seem so oblivious to their utter lack of dignity.

Many years ago they showed the elephants on CNN, and even watching it on TV was wonderful. I'm so jealous.
