Today, I'm going to Citibank to make them return to me the money they took out of my account because they are incompetent. I am absurdly nervous about this.

This includes the $500 they claim I never deposited. And a number of nasty fees as the entire thing spiraled out of control.

I should have all the paperwork I need to show them they error of their ways, but this is the sort of stuff that drives me insane and always seems to be beyond their capabilities to comprehend.

You can do this. One approach that works for me is the 'Hey I'm a working woman just like you and as you can see I've got my receipss. If you can't help me can you pass me on to the person who can?' I am sure that your intelligence and aplomb will carry you through.

Best of luck, I had to deal with this once and it sucked, but I eventually got through it. In my own case, the bank never admitted it, but they way they talked made me think that embezzling was involved.
