I think ellen_kushner may be on to something.

I was having a major cashflow drama that was going to impact my ability to go to Vermont this weekend for schpahky's graduation. Instead of just doing the "*grumble**grumble* mercury retrograde" thing, I said to Alison in email that perhaps I just need to offer prayers to Mercury/Hermes.

One hour later, cash flow problem solved.

Ha!

When I was a child, for the record, I was obsessed with Hermes. He was so pretty in D'Aulaire's Mythology and I always dressed up as him for all the school events (Latin class and related) that required that sort of thing, until one year I got forced to be Artemis. He was one of the first things I loved, one of my first imaginary and constant companions. And to this day, he still comes through for me. Every damn time.

I was also obsessed with Mercury as a child. I'm also always pleased to discover someone else who loved the D'Aulaire's Mythology books as a child - I loved both the Greek and the Norse book and read them many, many times.

As a full-fledged gemini I can be quite assured Mercury has a big pull when it comes to cashflow or anything that seems to involve quick decision skills.

I've noted that chronic communication issues in my life tend to get *better* during times when others complain about Mercury retrograde, so, maybe I am misaligned?
