What are the top 5 things you want to see happen in Book 7?

5. Hermione NOT marrying Ron. Thank you.

4. Either Lucius Malfoy survives because he was in prison (thus making fanfiction better for me) or dies really spectacularly after breaking out of prison and being seriously involved in the war (thus bringing Jason Isaacs back for movie 7 because he is the AWESOMEST).

3. Someone - anyone! (other than Snape) - noting that Sirius was, you know, actually kind of an asshole.

2. Remus/Tonks -- we know it can make sense, now MAKE IT MAKE SENSE already. Damn it, JKR.

1. Snape -- a dignified death, even if he turns out not to have been an honorable man. But, of course, I believe in Severus Snape.


Utterly ridiculous things I want but certainly won't get?

- An acknowledgement that progress creates dying worlds.
- A fandom that understands a werewolf shagging a shapeshifting chick is not some weird heteronormative betrayal of their Sirius/Remus _thing_.
- confirmation of Snape/Lucius/Narcissa, but then that's my story, not JKR's.

Why no Hermione/Ron?

(I have no particular attachment to them as a pairing, I'm honestly curious.)

Because they're 17. Because I actually don't loathe Ron, but I feel like they are a bad match and that they'd hold their passions against each other. And finally, because Hermione has been emblematic of JKR's failings at writing powerful capable women, and Hermione deserves redemption, not in the form of prettiness or supporting others, but in the form of using her gifts for herself in the end.

I do agree with all of those.

Them getting married in book 7 would smack of "OMG YOU MUST MARRY YOUR HIGH SCHOOL SWEETHEAR."

I forgot for a second that book 7 means NOW rather than, say, five years from now after University and jobs and more life, etc.

I'm not the someone you're looking for, but I'm right there on #3. I think I was the only person I knew who wasn't that crushed when he died. I didn't understand the uproar at all; we barely knew him and neither did Harry, and he was sortof a dick.

Hear hear. For all of fandom's apparent acceptance of outside-the-heteronorm existences ("oh, we are all for Teh Slash!"), much of it still expects rather more rigidity than I think exists in human (or particularly, queer) interaction. ("They were together! That means they were GAY AND NOTHING ELSE EVER AGAIN OMG.")

Though, in my wildest dreams I would love Tonks and Remus to break up because Remus comes out of the closet and Tonks secrectly admits she knew/suspected all along.

Um, yes, I've run into this again and again in other fandoms and it still suprises me a bit, the hostility involved towards the women in question.
