fame, at last!

Yes, dahlinks, "chick on cell" was me. I assume it won't make anyone feel any better that the reference wasn't on my own behalf?

[identity profile] redstapler.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
HA! I KNEW IT.

[identity profile] zarq.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
That's hilarious! :D

...and perhaps a little worrisome... :D :D :D

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I was totally ranting at someone about Decensus and was getting all poetic about it, so it wasn't like about my own romantic feelings. That I'm trying to justify this shit probably doesn't make it better!

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Let us not forget the part where this is all your fault.

[identity profile] kiji-kat.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That's almost as bad as the time that, in an attempt to be romantic, I told my boyfriend that he was "totally Han Solo, baby. Totally space cowboy."

Fortunately, he forgave me...

[identity profile] zarq.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! {insert tired yet still fun cliche about protesting too much here} :D

Well, if it's any consolation, I'm sure your quote has amused legions of Voldeslashers today, tho. :)

Or would that be "He-Who-Must-Not-Be Slashed"? :D

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It was totally a fanfic plotting conversation about what the appeal of being a Death Eater was for Snape, which is to say, boy has issues.

Anyway.

[identity profile] marzipan-pig.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
R. and Voldie sitting in a tree ....

I like your description below though, about projecting on to people what they could be as a way to express something you want for yourself.

I used to work things out by talking about Star Trek: Voyager in public with my friend, and I used to express the fear not that no one would know what we were talking about, but that someone would.

[identity profile] magnetgirl.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm pretty sure this was me:

"Girl: I used to have two vibrators, but I broke 'em both.

--14th St"

...and that was on my behalf...

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
But did they have names?

[identity profile] magnetgirl.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Um...it sort of depends at what point in my conversation that quote is from. If the beginning of it, yes: 'Ol Pinky (not my choice...boyfriend called it that and it stuck) and Bettina. If it was from later in the conversation, I was referring to when I was 12-13 and were my parent's back massagers that I'd sneak upstairs to use, then clean, then put away. And um, I was too scared I'd get caught and embarrassed to develop a naming kind of relationship with them.

...yeah.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I personally find naming them appalling, but it's my favourite thing to tease people about.

[identity profile] magnetgirl.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, remind me to bring up the subject when you're drinking something.

I name pretty much everything I own.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha! Did you see most of the comments on the LJ feed are about you?

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Noooooooo, must go look. I think.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Look! They are encouraging Voldemort's sexiness. Which is scary in a different way, I suppose.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
OH man. I mean, I was speaking on Severus' metaphorical behalf (I mean, I don't think he'd actually do the Dark Lord), whcih again, does not make me less crazy.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. I kept saying you would end up on Overheard eventually!

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! But I sort of didn't expect it for that. You and I must try harder on the subway.

[identity profile] phaenix-ash.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
you get best post of the day with that one. lmao.

please to be defining "romantic context"?

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I was talking about Descensus and ranting about Snape's "thing" for Voldemort which wasn't relationshipp-y romantic but about being drawn to someone and placing a lot of responsibility he should have taken for himself on someone else out based on a fantasy of who they could be as opposed to who they really were. It, was, believe it or not, despite being about submission, not about sex at all, but I realized I sounded like a maniac ranting about it and said the item quoted.

[identity profile] upstart-crow.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesomeness!

I'm a bit of a Voldy-shipper myself, I'm afraid to say. Your quote sort of made my day, even after you clarified. Squee!

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you read In Academia by Sushi? It is, among other things Snape/Voldemort, and it sort of started as a crack!fic (Lucius buys Snape a cowboy hat in Texas, Tom Riddle likes to corchet doilees and Snape is half-Indian) and was written after Book 4, but it remains one of my favourite, most beautiful, darkest, haunting fanfictions I've read.

[identity profile] upstart-crow.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL you actually recommended it to me in March :). I have read a wee bit, but the whole crackiness at first put me off it. I'll try it again though... I did approve of the Snape/Voldemort and Snape/Peter.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
It gets less cracky. I don't think she even intended it to get that serious, and then I don't think ever had the stomach to go back and fix it, but it's completely fucking mesmerizing.

[identity profile] upstart-crow.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I remember skipping ahead a bit, and liking how Peter developed.

I clearly also need more well-written Snape/Voldemort and/or Peter/Voldemort fics, despite the fact that I really do approve of the ship that was introduced in book 7 (not mentioning it just because I dont want to spoil anyone who hasn't read the last book yet). They are both frustratingly difficult to come by!

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that ship works for JKR's world, but not for the world in which people are actually capable of paying attention to and feeling more than one emotion at a time. Peter really has become a throwaway character for everyone and that's a shame, obviously there has to be some complexity in there.

[identity profile] upstart-crow.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
The ship I didn't name? I would agree with that to a degree, if so. Or did you mean Snape/Voldemort?

I hate that Peter has been thrown away. I really like him a lot, and particularly enjoy writing about him and playing him. OF course, my version of Peter is typically transgender too, so ...

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
The 'ship you didn't name.

Peter as trans is one of those things that works weirdly well with the film portrayal.

[identity profile] upstart-crow.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes. *grin* I think we talked about that too in March. And you said the actor who played him as a teen reminded you of an intersex friend in apperance?

As for the ship I didn't name, definitely. Works well in the books, but that degree of feeling is less likely outside of the books. In any case, I prefer the idea of a Snape who had other relationships. Nonetheless, I ship Snape/Voldemort a bit less these days. Not with the interest I once had. Though I'd probably read Voldemort/almost anyone if it wasn't chan.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Occassionally some interesting Voldemort/adult Hermione will pop up.

[identity profile] upstart-crow.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Very curious! I've only ever seen one fan art for that pair. I'll have to watch for it. I don't usually read Hermione/anyone fics. To me, she just works best with Ron, and I don't generally read fics for canon couples because canon typically covers enough ground for me. But I might actually like Voldemort/Hermione.

I do think Bellatrix/Voldemort is the most interesting if it's unrequited, though. Someday I'll have to blather about my take on Bella/Rhodolphus.

[identity profile] upstart-crow.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Which I guess sort of rules out Ginny... *shudder* I'm weird like that.

[identity profile] coriander.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
*giggles*

How funny!

[identity profile] 00goddess.livejournal.com 2007-09-19 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
That is awesome.
