[livejournal.com profile] maryh10000 does a good job at trying to make sense of why fans like Snape and why JKR can't figure out what's wrong with us.

The question it raises, for me, and that I've always wondered about, is where JKR herself was in the school pecking order as a girl. She's talked about being like Hermione, but what were her friendships like and what status/immunity in playground politics to they afford her?

Is there something wrong with liking Snape? The only thing i cna think of is if someone has only seen the movies and has the typical ' you can't like the bad guy ' attitude that is hammered into the heads of the average American moviegoer. I mean I've always liked snape because of the way he dresses. I love his outfits, and how they amplify his attitude.

Then again, I liked alot of the James Bond film " bad guys ". Who can't admire the intelect of Auric Goldfinger?
