wow, our society is so toxic

Why don't we just cut to the chase and decide that being a woman is, in and of itself, a disease?

Some people just can't or won't accept a redifinition of beauty and of self, which is sad. But to add to that by describing motherhood as severe trauma just adds a whole 'nuther disturbing level.

Happy Birthday.

Although it has something to do with this feeling that the only way to suceed at being a woman is to opt out of the dominant culture in a pretty extreme way (which I've done more or less by accident) or to opt in to such a degree one ceases to exist.

Date: 2007-10-04 06:15 pm (UTC)Is it weird that the fact that the doctor's name is "Doctor Stoker" makes me envision a stereotypical Hollywood vampire beckoning women into his office so that he can "fix" them?
I personally feel that masculinity is the disease. I would simply LOVE to have my "condition" listed as a genetic disorder. It would certainly enable me to get the care and treatment that I need, not to mention save me from a lot of unjust punishment!
"You left the light on in the bathroom and didn't pick your towels up off the floor again, honey!"
"What?! I ... I can't believe that you be so insensitive as to bring ... my condition into this! You KNOW that I have testosterism! [sobs]"
Of course I can't imagine what kind of TREATMENT I'd get for this disease ... and now that I think about it, I'm not sure I'd want it!! :(

Date: 2007-10-05 05:22 am (UTC)Plastic surgery and the cosmetic industry don't get money from this girl either.
I will be passing this on a gender and pop culture instructor I know. I can hear the discussions in her classroom already.
Hope your special day was delightful.
