Come join me for the New York City Barn Dance!

You don't have to know how to dance (you barely have to know how to walk in a straight line) or have a partner. It's gender role-free and really amazingly diverse and non-ironic.

There are snacks and beer, live old-time music and more dorktastic awesomeness than you can possibly imagine.

The dance starts at 8pm and runs to 11pm and is $15 ($13 for students).
Those who wish to come early can come to the old-time music jam first (starting at 6:30) which is free for musicians who want to participate and may include some impromptu dancing. We haven't really made a plan yet, but will definitely be there by eight and probably earlier (I think I am aiming for 7).

i really want to - hopefully christmas '08. there are quite a few people i want to visit with, but it would definitely be with T in tow. olivia_gum would never forgive me if i didn't bring her and i have this thing about wanting her to experience christmas in NYC as often as possible as a child.

Our guest room is small, but it will have a fold out full and we both love kids, so you're both welcome if you need the crash space and can tolerate the cranky kitty factor.

that is wonderful of you - thank you! e have large amounts of experience with the cranky kitty factor. though at the moment it's the "omglovemelovemeloveme" kitten factor. she's sitting on my hands as i type.

Hahahaha.

We have two.

Little kitty is the size of Orson Welles and likes to bite rolls of packing tape and sit on people. She also tends to vomit.

Pretty Kitty is part siamese and will have long drawn out conversations with you, but also self injures if she doesn't get enough attention.

It's so completely absurd.
