There are parts of Philly just like this. When I lived in the city, I used to walk down those streets on purpose. I mean, yeah, Olde City is still like that, has been since colonial times and it looks pretty much the same as it did two hundred years ago, but there are places like Delancy St. (the street where they shot much of The Sixth Sense and Trading Places)- those quaint, old-fashioned places that are like pieces of time. (Yes, that street really does look like that. I lived two blocks from it :) )

Elfreth's Alley is still cobbled, and the oldest continuously inhabited street in the US. You can practically hear the clip-clop of horse-hooves.

They're some of my favorite places.

In New York, so many of these things are now gated so you can't even get onto them to see the houses, which is sad, so I'm always thrilled when articles like this pop up.

How incredibly serene to have one of those homes in the middle of the city. The prices astound me, but, WOW!
