Am I the only person offended by NOW's assertion that Ted Kennedy has 'betrayed women' by throwing his support behind Obama? I'm not even an American woman but that statement initially filled me with a blend of WTF and outrage. You can find more about it on CNN; I've gone and lost the link now. Am I missing something about the man that I should have picked up earlier? Is his potential presidency going to be damaging to women? Because if this is just about 'he's got boy cooties', I'm miffed.

Nope, I'm offended too. I'm offended that I'm apparently morally obligated to like Hilary as a candidate because I'm a woman or because the Human Rights Campaign says so or because I did like Bill a great deal.

I don't get it. It's not doing women's rights ANY good if I vote for someone because of their chromosomes. How can a group that's supposedly 'professional feminists' miss the point so hugely?
