Somehow, SOMEHOW, I managed to just get my last Terminus proposals in. One for Descensus (focusing on the Snape throughline of the story for about 40 years) and one, finally, that thing about Jewish identity -- I wrote it in about 20 minutes, but I think it ROCKED. So we'll see.

Nice little piece, thanks for the link. And yeah my paper focuses on Snape, blood status issues and the Goblins, among other things.

When people discuss religion and Harry Potter, their focus is usually
on Christian allegory. However, the Harry Potter series, despite
having no explicitly or implicitly Jewish characters, speaks to issues
of Jewish identity through reference to stereotypes and historical
treatment of culturally and religiously Jewish populations. While
this is most overt in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, this
phenomenon is present throughout the series, most prominently in the
characterization of Severus Snape, the social standing of the Goblins
and the on-going issue of blood status.
