Date: 2008-03-11 10:49 pm (UTC)Also, I am familiar with being the disapproving woman -- V. and I had an ongoing argument about naming our (future) daughters Ace and Scout. (Ace, as it turns out, would have been for a Dr. Who Companion, which, I might have softened a little, only he was morally opposed to Rose, which is a name I actually like.)
In related news, I think one of Paula Yates' daughters (Fifi Trixibelle?) has spoken publicly on the subject of "please don't name your children stupid things."
In conclusion, I'd be interested in a study that tracked what people with common names do re: their kids. I share a first name with probably every fourth girl born between 1965 and 1985, and I'm not passing it on to my kids (if I ever have any).
