Apr. 9th, 2008 10:13 pmI have finally finished watching Torchwood Season 1.
For a show entirely populated by amoral, dysfunctional characters the show itself has some really lovely things to say about people and wins many points in my book for the strong people cry factor. Also? Jack? Is a big slut, but also seems to love at the drop of a hat, and it's no less for its seeming lack of long-term repercussions in his screwed up little head. For a show with a lot of truly awful writing and nasty monsters, there's a lot of sweet hiding in it.
Also, Ianto's "I hate you/I am totally scared out of my mind" voice is a gravelly sexy thing. Just saying.
Also, why is Owen such a fucking asshole?
Finally, what is up with the Doctor Who/Torchwood and now we'll reference Christian mythology and have demons thing?

Date: 2008-04-10 02:36 am (UTC)The mythology and "Lonely God" thread from Season Three of DW annoyed me to no end. It's bad enough that the last two companions had to be IN LURVE with the Doctor, but turning him into humanity's salvation, to whom humanity should be grateful, crawled under my skin like a tick during a backwoods hike. I have yet to see the first episode of Season Four, but I truly hope that the God thread goes away and that the Doctor is, in effect, brought back down to Earth.
That being said, I really did like "The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit" two-parter, even with the explicit religious references therein.
