"Only fictional lives or lives made into fiction have a shape. Outside of fiction one can find routine, which is negative in design, and random events, beyond foresight and control. We might be dust blown in the wind. We are. The refuge, then, was another life; and if there was empathy, it was with what is otherwise impossible to have."

Apt, particularly it seems in the wake of the most recent bit of writing I did. I'm been in a damn mood ever since.

The writing was good. Is the mood good, bad,or amorphous?

Fond and very sad.

Writing for me is closer to acting, than to writing. It's not a removed process. Patty keeps me in the world of actual people, so when she's away on digs, my moods from the production of words can linger. It's not a big deal, in that I differentiate sad from depressed. But, oh. I felt all that.

Being alone, when you're not single,is completely different from being alone.

I suspect all good writers are emotionally involved in the people whose stories they tell,to various degrees. The actor as story teller, and the writer as story teller, are not far removed from each other. No more than the poet is removed from the singer,or the dancer from the musician.

Hey, I realise this is probably both imposing and presumptuous of me, but would you ever consider writing a story for [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetsu? (It's an original yaoi/boy's-love zine I help a friend edit, maybe Patty has mentioned it to you?)

Anyway, I really like your writing (both fiction and non-), and I think you'd make a really rocking contribution, and add an interesting voice to the mix. I don't normally go and harass people like this to contribute (okay, a few of our regulars, but they need it), but I'd like to have you as a part of this.

Feel free to tell me to fuck off if you're not interested :)

Thank you.

I know about it vaguely. Sometimes I try to talk to her when she's reading it and fail!

So what do I do... or do I just go look at the community and figure it out.

Well, the comm user info explains it pretty well. It's an original yaoi/slash zine, and we'll take anything as long as it's an original story and has an R or NC-17 sex scene, no glaring grammar/spelling mistakes and is between 1,500 and 10,500 words long (it has to fit into one LJ entry -- although you can submit something longer, but you forfeit your spot for the next issue.)

The current submission date is tomorrow, but I doubt that's feasible for you XD The next one will be probably in August sometime.

Each issue has a pre-determined theme, but you don't have to follow it if you don't want to -- the next one will be sports, which you might be interested in.

The archives are at [livejournal.com profile] s2b2 if you want to get a feel for it, although it's not like we endorse a house style or anything.

Yeah. Sometimes I can write in a quick flurry, but I have to get up way too soon to go to a 1920s dance thing on Governor's Island dressed like Jack Harkness.

*pauses*

Wow. How the fuck did I get a sentence like that out of my life? But yeah. August. Nag me mid-July.
