iPOd froze up.
Itunes won't recognize it.
Screen also won't go into saver mode.
I can't fix it.
Do I have to bring it to the Apple store right now to make sure it doesn't burn an image onto the screen and ruin the thing?

Okay, so far so good (although it took the last of those many different ideas to work.

Are they always like this? And what makes them act up?

perhaps once a week one has to press those two buttons at once like that. I am not sure what makes it happen. I know unplugging it from the computer without ejecting it definitely does this, but sometimes there are more mysterious things too. on the whole quite reliable though, and the fix is not hard when you know it. I LOVE my ipod.

I've had mine for a couple of years now, and it only did this once, and if there was an outside stimulus that caused it, I have no idea what it was. About all I can say is that really complicated technological devices can go wrong in a lot of really complicated and subtle ways.
