Red or navy blue?

http://www.trashydiva.com/site/indexNOW.html

Side note: am I seriously considering buying a dress in navy blue? Have I gone out of my mind? Yes, probably.

I'm voting Red.

OOOOOOOOO RED!!! I think it would look perfect with your dark hair and eyes.

Navy blue. Definitely.

waa! not in my size! foo.

red. with your coloring, red.

The people agree that with your coloring it should be red.

for you, the red. But red or sapphire for me, because that dress is a wonderful treat.

Navy. You could wear it with a pair of drop-dead-hot red shoes if you wanted red. I feel like red's 'done' too much of the time. Navy's sneakier and more subtle and classy and just as hot but at arm's length.

Yeah, I feel like it's a little more mature and allows the dress to be a bit more flexible. Also, I have an extremely ruddy complexion (which is not always apparent in photos), so blue cools me out.

The dress is fabulous and you can use your shoes and other accessories to set the mood. I don't think the navy needs to be any less fun. :)

I always forget and think you have my skin tones, and I'd have trouble with navy. If not, it's more versatile and more you in terms of dignity (?) Why that word, I don't know.

That blue would cool most people out. It doesn't have the energy that the dress calls for.

Thanks for the link! I am going to get one in white with black polkadots!!! I love Trashy Diva - I considered one of their obi dresses for a wedding dress.

A red Trashy Diva dress would be awesome. I also like the navy. I'm not helping am I? I guess if you have to pick one, go with the red.

I vote red, FWIW.

Red is the safe choice, navy is the growing edge. Navy!

In what universe is navy edgy?

Oh, this cracktastic one that I live in. Right.

Date: 2008-07-20 08:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] schpahky.livejournal.com
Precisely.

Not edgy -- just an edge. A new thing for you. Think of how cute it will be with a little silk scarf knotted at the neck. Or with a brightly colored thin belt and matching shoes. Or a wicker purse, pearls, and a fringed shoulder wrap.

I am full of ideas for you, BTW, because I look like crap in navy.

I was thinking about the little scarf thing.

My life keeps startling me.

How about a leather helmet, aviator goggles, and an ivory scarf flapping in the wind?

OMG

WTF

BBQ

With heels, of course.

Navy Blue. And not just because someone has to, and you can ;-)

My personal affinity for and your general dislike of navy blue aside, I think it might actually be the better choice right now. It's sneakier. Red screams something, navy blue can hint at something. It could be part of the subtle joke that no one but you (and a few token others) get.

From: [identity profile] airspaniel.livejournal.com
My knee-jerk reaction was red, but upon further consideration I think the navy might be better suited to you. I couldn't give you a good reason why I think that, but there it is.

Also, crap... now I have to decide what color I want. It's too good a deal to pass up. ^_^

Unless that is exactly your perfect shade of red, which I think is actually a more blueish blood red, then I would say Navy.

THANK YOU for that link! I had kind of forgotten that I needed a dress to wear to a friend's wedding until I saw that. Now I just hope I picked the right size...

(For what it's worth, I vote navy, too.)

Actually, I think the blue would suit you and look very 40s. I know you have a 'thing' about navy blue, but it does suit your colouring. The red is very Marilyn, as is the polka-dot...

I think the navy would be more you -- from my internet impression and photos (and seeing you that one time at Books of HP7 I was too shy to say hello.)

I really like navy, myself, but I suspect the red would look stunning on you...although it's difficult to be sure of the exact share online, and that can make such a difference with red. Perhaps the Navy would be more certain and flexible for you in the long run, however.

I think Navy... fuck, why don't they make these in my size? Because I want one!

Are you allergic to navy blue, as I am? It irks me, because I know it's a perfectly good color and I keep finding nice things in it, and it works with various of my wardrobe schemes, except for the part where the clothing item in said color winds up being mentally classified as "icky school uniform" and going un-worn accordingly.

Yup. at luntil the Jack Harkness cosplay situation. Now I'm reevauluation it, because hey, it does look good on me. But a dress? Seriously?

Date: 2008-07-21 07:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] amberite.livejournal.com
...The answer to that question depends quite a bit on whether it looks good on you, or on Jack!you...

(Properly I need the Pertwee/Dandy icon I made for John, here.)

Navy blue looks fantastic on me in general. I just have issues with it that I'm able to put aside in certain contexts. I may be considering expanding the contexts.

Is it more orange-y or more blue-y? I'm really thinking about the red one, but I'm always nervous about buying red off the internet. Hard to tell what the color really is....

blue-y. I know what you mean. I took quite a chance, but oh, it's lovely.

I'd buy black. Or red. But that's my coloring.

Or I'd ask if they would make a custom one if I bought the fabric, and then I'd look for something outrageous!
