Jul. 22nd, 2008 02:35 am- Has anyone in TW/DW fandom done a fic about teen Jack back in the 51st century losing his virginity?
- Um, that isn't AWFUL?
- Link, please?
- Or for that matter, please take this plot bunny and run with it?
(I keep toying with this and may write it eventually, but it's not high on my to-do list and since there will be a real, live girl in my bed again soon, it's probably going to get much lower on the to do list after Thursday.)

Date: 2008-07-22 01:35 pm (UTC)I haven't seen much Torchwood, so I've mostly seen Jack in Doctor Who, and am therefore missing whatever backstory you get there, but the image I get for teenage!Jack losing his virginity involves a lot of whooping and laughter. I see the other person as being someone he knows rather well, though I could go either way as far as it being a friend he grew up with where they both were feeling experimental, and went, "hey, you're awesome, you're here, let's fuck" or if the culture has a teaching system where you go to an older friend who shows you a few things and then somewhere down the line, you do the same for someone else.

Date: 2008-07-22 02:52 pm (UTC)I think that's entirely true. It feels like a bit of a slap in the face in Torchwood fandom sometimes though, because it comes along with people warning for M/M kissing in a pretty queer fandom for a pretty queer show. It may be annoying in other fandoms, but it's never made me angry before.

The backstory is problematic in ways that most people probably don't care about, but make me nuts as someone who is interested in world-building and the evolution of civilizations. The narration on the backstory is at least mostly deeply unreliable, but it's definitely one of the parts of canon where I wish we had less information because navigating around what we have right now is annoying.
And yes, exactly, these are things I've been pondering (or Jack and his two best friends, a guy and a girl, losing an entire afternoon to it, getting home later than they all said they would and just being so breathtakingly ordinary.
Btw, love your icon.
