D*C: TW, panel 2
Aug. 30th, 2008 01:24 pmLive blog: http://kalichan.livejournal.com/148098.html
- The moderator wanted to keep it pre-watershed that made it somewhat tamer.
- However, GDL, in response to a question about TW is slated to become more kid-friendly insisted that was not true and that it will have just as much sex and violence as ever.
- James Marsters helpfully told the audience how not sexy screen kissing and love scenes are. He said, "I am not a porn star," in the process of explaining how intrusive and embarrassing it can be, and GDL countered with "I am a porn star" and went on from there.
- Hilarious story about a scene excised from Meat wherein Barrowman had suggested that more development of Jack and Ianto's relationship needed to be seen and suggested that Ianto feed Jack pizza during the meeting. So they shoot this and then Barrow grabs GDL and puts his hand on his crotch. The next day, the director comes up to GDL and tells him to tone it down because the scene is getting too camp and he's like "it wasn't my idea!" (Meanwhile, Kali and I will be using the pizza feeding in something -- already planned).
- That horrible cow from yesterday was back with her flask, but got shut down before she could ask anyone out. But dude, so not okay.
- GDL's dream role is Macbeth, on film, and he wants to do is so the audience is on Macbeth's side. This made me jump up and down with happiness and I'd love to see it, because it reminds me so much of what we were trying to do with the one I was in, in Sydney.
- He also talked about his love for Brecht and how he's played Mac the Knife a bunch of times. Also he loves Sweeney Todd.
- Great conversation right at the end that started with someone asking Marsters if it was hard to play Hart's love for Jack since Hart's so devious. Marsters told a lovely story about Barrowman helping him out when he got pretty seriously hurt on set, and then this segued into him and GDL talking about how love and deviousness actually go together and how that's very much the human condition. Yay yay yay. This was really great, albeit a bit rushed.
- Lots of dirty jokes in spite of the request for things to be pre-watershed.
- probably more later.... will add to this or expand on things above when I have time.

Date: 2008-08-31 06:21 am (UTC)Really that whole scene both the 1st and 2nd day made me twitchy and wanting to smack her.

I heard an insider talking and she said that they were live in the beginning and when they went off-the-air, then it's ok to get a bit more raunchy. I think the 1st day, they didn't know if they were going to switch to live or not, but today they had a schedule and were given a sign when the feed was shut off.
I'm hoping for no live DCTV tomorrow!
