Among my fabulous parting gifts now that I have returned home from Dragon*Con is a Totally Brilliant Idea for a (god help me) non-fantasy Chick LIt novel that I am uniquely qualified to write. Um. This is the last sort of project I've ever wanted. But it's Right Here. I think I want you guys to talk me out of this, but I think once I explain it you'd egg me on.

Being back here in NYC is great. I felt like a small and incompetent fish in a very big pond at D*C, but I live in the biggest pond of all, and I do all right here. Everything else is a learning experience. And a chick lit novel. Apparently.

Also?

[livejournal.com profile] invisible_lift? AWESOME. Very nice to meet lots of other people too, including [livejournal.com profile] rusty_halo who has my love forever for her "VOTE SAXON" pin.

More, such as it is, tomorrow.

I'm glad you're home safe. The idea of you writing chick lit is sort of like an lovecraft monster; scary beyond all reason but oddly alluring.

Thank you. Getting home from this in one pieec felt ridiculously dubious for no good reason at all.

So. I have a plot. I have a subplot. I have a sexual romance and a platonic romance. I have stuff about cheating and monogamy and sexual freedom. I've got a narrative voice. I've got a hook. I might even have a title. LIke, I know EXACTLY how to execute this thing, which is more than a little disturbing. And because of the tonal quality of chick lit, I think it's a fast write, which you know, is an allure all of itself.

Glad you made it back to NYC without incident. It was wonderful to meet you and hang out with you and Patty and [livejournal.com profile] invisible_lift. The party quality level left something to be desired, but the company couldn't be beat!

Yes! You too. And thank you for commenting. I've no brain right now for LJ names, so I need to catch up with everyone's to add to something at least resembling a full recap post.

Glad you guys made it home safe and sound. ^_^

Sorry I was so cranky and out of sorts all weekend. Just let me know how much I owe you, and I'll figure out a way to get you paid.

Totally okay. You missed a lot of big crazy on Sunday, and my body is still recovering from the abuse I did myself.

I'll do the math when I can function again, which, I suspect, may not be until tomorrow.

[livejournal.com profile] invisible_lift is pretty damn awesome.

And chick lit? Underrated. I'm all for entertaining fiction - as my friends like to say at each other's plot bunnies: dooooo iiiiiit.

Someone has a "Vote Saxon" pin! I am so jealous, I might need to get one of those for myself. I've been dancing around the apartment to "Voodoo Child" all weekend in honor of my friends at Dragon*Con.
I'm glad you made it home in one piece and I look forward to more of your D*C stories (including the chick lit book idea).

I got to dance to that at the Yule Ball.

Anyway, look for email.

You know, I'm not a big fan of the genre conceptually, but from you? I would read the chick lit.

Glad to hear you made it back alright. I'm guessing there wasn't too much hassle at the airport, then?

I don't read the genre myself either, I have to ask Kali and Patty about it. Kali ranted at me last night that I had to have a happy ending. Which sounds dirty. Um, never mind.

Anyway.

No flight delays. Landed early. Had a fucked up ride into the city, but so fucking glad to be home.

I don't know if you're aware, but those two words hang like obscene Scrabble tiles over that 11 hour drive I made with disturbing regularity.

Disturbing regularity.

Also, it occurs to me that I have a hilarious euphemism I should share with you sometime regarding Mr. Barrowman.

Also, this is me being all "Bwah?" and sort of awed that you just called me awesome. ;)
