sundries, now in paragraph form

It's storming like the end of out the world out there, and thanks, I've already been out in one hurricane this week, and I actually do, now that our furniture has been delivered, need to leave the house. I'm waiting, in hopes it lightens up a little, but it's whipcrack and guns thunder out there and there's no umbrella in the world that would keep me dry from this shit.

Fencing was good last night (and I think I still owe a write up on the class _before_ Dragon*Con), but I am still feeling like I need to find a way back down into it. Maybe I don't. Maybe I am naturally and correctly done with that phase of my relationship to this thing. I don't know. I didn't feel pissed off all class though, so I suppose I am making progress with my shit.

I'm really looking forward to listening to the TW radio play later today, although I don't expect much from it -- more educational about the CERN thing, no doubt, than plotty craziness.

Patty's back in school and made a major deadline yesterday. I'm adjusting to her being busy and tired (as I am sure she is herself), but all in all it seems less agonizing than last semester. I'm glad to have her here.

Meanwhile, hotel reservations have been made for the Regency Ball, so life is more or less in order, although there are a few other events we need to book stuff for.

The next Dances of Vice is going to be a Baroque/Glam Rock theme, which means it'll be time to drag out the Brian Slade costume again. I'm thrilled. It is, however, also the same weekend as a fencing tournament, so that's likely to be a little weird and crazy for me.

Speaking of weird and crazy, let's talk about February 2009. Patty will be in Oman, meanwhile I will be:
- going to a Regency tea dance in Boston
- flying out to LA for Gallifrey One (and perhaps some respectable acting meetings if I'm feeling sensible and in the mood to be told to lose five pounds or that in France I'd actually be attractive, which, you know, I'm probably not. I hate LA.)
- taking a weekend off
- going to our Bustle Ball in New Haven.
Expect me to be non-fuctional by March 1.

I'm forseeing a use for that blazer I got in Chicago.

Additionally: Ifan is coming to Governor's Island on Sunday. He's being nitpicky about correct era costuming. ::flail::

Awesome. Patty and I are going Saturday and on Sunday I think it will be just me, depending on how interested she is.

Our couch/air mattress/cat are all available in February should you desire them. I may even be in the middle of an insane week-long Valentine's-themed show!

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent. Thank you. And it would be lovely to get to see you perform (if that wouldn't be odd).

Hooray! And heavens, no, please come. It's the image burned on your retinas you have to deal with the rest of your life!

*gapes at quantity of things to do in February*

My, my, you will be pretty much x_x by March 1. Still, you'll no doubt have achieved some fun and/or important things by that point.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt anything important will come out of any of those events, but my life is unlikely enough that I'll never say never.

The next Dances of Vice is going to be a Baroque/Glam Rock theme,

I have absolutely no idea what I am going to do for this one. I may need pick your brain for ideas.

I really need to remember to book the Regency weekend hotel room this week.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Ayup. Where are you staying? Most things will be sold out by now. New Haven is evil.

[identity profile] marchek.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I usually stay at the Courtyard Marriott because it's easy since Susan will drop us off. I just checked their website and I swear they raised their prices. Marilyn will be bunking with Alan and I and I'm concerned about the price being too high for her.

Where are you and Patty staying? Do you know of some secret cheap place that's not to hard to get to?

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
We stay at the Duncan which is walking distance to the event. The rooms are like $100 and large. Some people hate the hotel -- it's old and very warn and not in a glamorous way -- more in a 1930s film noir way. I get a kick out of it, but it is not cool, even if you think this description makes it so. They will still have rooms available though.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It is totally worn in a glamorous way. I ♥ that hotel.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
BTW, our kitchen is filled with bookcases.

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm at home. I noticed. It was kinda startling, since the door opens right into them.

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Sorry about that. I should be home in about an hour or so and then we can move em! I had an entirely fucked up morning (not because of that, something else -- it's all fine now).

[identity profile] wordsofastory.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no big deal, it's funny.

And poor my baby! Kisskisskiss.

If you're up for company while in Boston, I'd definitely be interested in seeing you when you're in town (I'm a bit north of Boston). I had a great time hanging out and wandering around with you at D*C, and would enjoy the opportunity to do so again. I can offer you crash space too, if you don't mind kitties.

The next DoV theme sounds very fun. Lots you can do with that one. Enjoy!

[identity profile] rm.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I adore kitties (we have two), but will probably stay with [livejournal.com profile] schpahky as I generally do, lest she be too overwhelmed with performances then, but would very much like to see you. I can barely plan 7 days in advance right now, but more as it gets closer (or if I wind up in Boston sooner, which does happen from time to time).

Excellent! Yes, let's try to plan a get-together of some sort while you're in range. If you want to do that off-blog, my e-mail address is my username at gmail.

I will find a way to go if it kills me. Glam Rock is a theme I can find a way to cobble together moreso than the previous themes. Yes!
