What is up with these turtles?
Why are they so adorable?
Why do they turn me into such a cooing girl?
Are there other tiny turtles with giant food pictures I've not yet seen?

Turtles are just adorable. They have such serious little faces and walk around so deliberately. We have two aquatic turtles who live in a tank in our kitchen. Now they're big enough to eat a whole grape but they were once the size of quarters and we had to cut grapes in half for them.

I can't have them at the moment because of the animals we rescue (it would be a bad fit), but I've always had a huge soft spot for turtles. They are very endearing creatures, to me.

Your pictures are all lovely, but the third one is astonishing. The raspberry sets off not only the size of the turtle, but the iridescence of its coloring and the detail of its markings and structure with such starkly simple perfection that it knocks the breath from me. And then there's the deliciously grumpy expression on its face.

Ohhhhh, little wee tortoises, sooooooooo cute!!! I had a little Greek tortoise named Persephone once, really a sweet pet until reaching puberty, and turning out to be a restless and violent boy tortoise who wanted to bitebitebite EVERYONE!!! He went back to the tortoise farm where he could be a happy stud tortoise.

And, yes, even if the large thing he's biting is YOU, a little tortoise biting a large thing is cuuuuuuuuute! They sort of... CONSIDER things, tilt their heads to decide the best angle from which to attack their food. And they have extremely unexpected pink tongues like kittens.
