Aside from the fact that I _loved_ West Wing. Aside fro mthe fact that I _need_ Barack Obama to win this election, this piece is near and dear to my heart. If you've been aorund here for a while you'll known why.

Elite is a good word, it means well above average. I’d ask them what their problem is with excellence.

Hehehe yes.

And since you haven't been around here for a while, last season of ljidol there was a huge kerfluffle over one of my entries because I used the words 'ascetic' and 'aesthetic' in the same entry (I think in the same sentence) because when I'm writing seriously, I'm writing to rhythm and they were both true and accurate words and it was exactly the point I was trying to make. And people flipped out at me! Said I was using big words to ake peopel feel bad, that my meaning was impossible to discern and it was curel of me to make people use a dictionary. To which I responded "I knew those wods in sixth grade."

It went on. And got uglier. In retrospect it's sort of a hoot.

But it's why I jumped all over that elitism thing.

Also, my favorite random West Wing thing to quote ever. Leo saying, "I know things," as regards the Chief Justice writing in meter.

Having been criticised by drunken adults for being a Genius(admitedly true, not a bad thing, and completely not my idea)in my youth, that whole riff spoke to me too.
Although the Canadian Federal election that is going on right now is nowhere near as emotionally painful as the one in the States is, this piece did my poor lefty heart a world of good.
