While I don't see baldanders very often, he and his partner roadnotes are two of my oldest friends who have seen me through lovers and heartaches and a gazillion different obsessions with good humour, grace and insight.

baldanders is currently in the hospital, having had a stroke earlier today. While the limited details I've heard sound somewhat encouraging, this remains a serious and frightening situation for all concerned. If you could keep them in your thoughts, it would be most appreciated.

I apologize if you are finding out through this mode. Additionally, I should note that spreading the news has had its official approval, and I am under the understanding that I am not, in fact, talking out of school.

I had a stroke last January. I was only 27.
It's scary as hell, but there IS light at the other end of the tunnel.

I will be keeping them in my thoughts, definitely.

Eep! That's so young! Any idea as to what caused it? Birth control?

I had a pulmonary embolism this January (I was 31!), which was also as frightening as all hell. Fortunately, my husband was home when I passed out and he called 911 right away. Otherwise, I wouldn't be here.

All signs and doctors point to a bad chiropractic neck adjustment. I'm all for chiropractors, but not when it comes to one's neck. Not after having to learn to walk again, and having permanent balance and vision deficits now.

I'm so glad you were home with your husband when it happened. I'm glad I was at work and around people, otherwise, I would have been slept on by my cats until my roommate got home a few hours later.
