- I am going to visit Soren at the hospital tomorrow.

- I found gluten-free frozen meals that actually understand celiac disease. Aside from having more calories than the average frozen meal (about 400 as opposed to about 200), they also have extra vitamins added. This addresses two major problems celiacs have.

- Really. Fic TODAY.

- Work.

- Oh LJ. Yesterday someone was all up in my shit on the New Yorkers forum. Today, I had to tell someone on the steampunk community to not use "gay" as a negative adjective. I'm expecting someone to blame Jews for the banking crisis at any moment.

- Financial crisis things to keep an eye on:
The situation with AIG remains unstable. Bank of America is having stock drops and problems with people buying into their new issuances that are designed to fund their acquisitions of failing companies. This could lead to some very bad news in a couple of weeks if these things aren't brought under control.

- Random financial crisis piece of advice:
While the FDIC means your money is safe and you should not take your money out of the bank and put it in your mattress, remember that sentiment makes people act crazy. Always have $100 in small bills in your house. ALWAYS. Good for disasters, power outages, etc., also good if all the dipshits in your neighborhood panic and empty the ATMs on a Friday and you need cash (I used to lived in the East Village -- this happened all the time just from the night life. With paranoid bullshit emails going around about how the government is going to shut off all the ATMs (they're not), have cash on hand in case idiots try to make your life inconvenient).

Oh yay. I know another person who's gluten-intolerant - that's interesting to hear. Hugs to you and to Soren, and everyone else affected.

Fail on the [livejournal.com profile] newyorkers bully. Ugh. Still, at least there were some non-failtastic peeps offering advice.

Noted on the go-bag kitty idea. And that reminds me of something I heard of from a friend-of-a-friend: apparently there are jewelers doing brisk business in diamonds or simple diamond-and-platinum-setting rings because those folks who have too much money to be covered by FDIC are trying to keep hold of their assets.

I hope Sorens well and yes about the hundred dollars.

I have it in my instantly ready tornado/hurricane vault.

Be Well.

copy their post back, substituting the word "republican" or "fundamentalist" or "male".

Out here we keep that cash in the earthquake/antiFEMA/mergency survival kit anyways (or should), and I also highly recommend a roll of quarters. They're good for things paper money fails at, like laundromats, pay phones, and whacking people with a sock full. (Cell towers are likely to go down in emergencies or power failures, but land lines may still be intact - so hope there's still a pay phone somewhere.)
