sundries, attempted
Oct. 14th, 2008 11:26 pm1. I am not doing so great. I am PMS'ing like mad, my period is late, I can't seem to cry, and I'm wound damn tight. Everyone is being great though, and basically I just need a day away from all of this to uncoil. THat will come Friday when we head up to CT for the weekend.
2. Sounds like Soren is making lots of progress. Now if only I could get to the damn hospital.
3. My dad is still in the ICU, but they think he will be moved to a regular room tomorrow or Thursday and probably be in the hospital through the weekend. I want them to keep him for a sleep study for sleep apnea, and it looks like he's going to have a lot more trouble walking than we originally thought. At his age and health, even if it's not the stroke, he's going to need hysical therapy to get out of bed after being in it for a week.
4. A friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. No question in my mind she'll beat the crap out of it with grace and calm. It's made me rather selfishly feel like a nutjob about my own health again though.
5. Cat puke.
6. We know the new series has a plotline involving kids. And we know we find out more secrets about Jack. And today there was news that 3 new TW books will be out in March, one about a house that Jack owned in 1907. Which got me wondering, are we going to find out that Jack has had children at some point in series 3?

Date: 2008-10-15 05:48 am (UTC)Now that I have finally learned how to leak a few tears of sadness without having a full-blown crying fit/asthma attack/palpitations/crash, I keep a mental list of a few things which are all but guaranteed to make me bawl. That way, when I'm a stress case, I can fight for a few quiet minutes, play That Song or watch that clip or something, leak a few hormone-laden tears, and feel surprisingly better afterwards. I suppose one does leak stress hormones that way; it's just that crying was so often a source of stress for me that I didn't learn until fairly recently.
Strength until Friday.

I'm new to Torchwood, just starting disc 3 of season one, when is a good time to go diving into books?

Date: 2008-10-15 04:25 pm (UTC)Another Life you can read at any time, because it takes place very early on after Gwen's arrival. And don't read Twilight Streets until after you finish Season 1 as there are things of critical relevance there. Otherwise, I can't think of any specific timing issues, but I would largely wait until you you were at least halfway through season 2, only because of the various relationship stuff.
