(A lot of my childhood memories involve sad, sad war songs sung by random bands in random bars my parents took me to or involve watching old movies featuring cameos by the Andrews Sisters with my dad on Sunday afternoons. So this is, aside from the obvious occasion, just one of those things for me, as opposed to whatever supposition some of you may have been harboring; that is all).

If I were anywhere nearby I would totally go. Charles Ives and Kurt Weill are two of my favorite composers of songs.

All Souls does very good music programs as a rule, so I'm hoping it will be something quite lovely. I dithered a bit about posting, as I tend to go to things like this and sit in the back by myself and be quite pleased, but I'm trying to be a little less insane these days, so I figured some of my NY people might be interested.

I sang a Charles Ives song back in College called Charlie Rutledge. It wasn't all that hard considering it was Ives, but it was pretty odd, and the piano accompaniment was brutal. Enjoy the concert.
