Having to write an article on whether you should spit or swallow when it comes to canker sore medication.

Many years ago, I used to apply a kind of resin that would immediately deaden the pain (20% Xylocaine, if I recall) and would form a rubbery shield over the canker sore so that I wouldn't aggravate it any more. Don't know where this life-saving medication would fall on the spit/swallow spectrum.

My ultimate solution, though, was to stop getting canker sores, which has worked well for about 15 years now.

Does it still exist? I've bitten the inside of my cheek a couple times in recent years, but my precious tube of the magic salve had dried up and I can't find the same stuff at the drugstore.

Spit! When I have accidentally swallowed them, they have given my tummy fits!
