- Because of a conference our company is hosting in Europe this week, we're not sure if they remembered to give our numbers to the accountant to call in to pay us. Which is potentially problematic, since our accountant leaves for vacation for a week or something today. But you know, everything may also be fine. *Eye roll*

- Meanwhile, I'm waiting for money for freelance articles on a range of absurd subjects including medication-induced dry mouth, various gluten-free products and the best screen kisses of 2008. I have to do some stuff about fashion history and New Year's Eve in Sydney this week too. Also, more goddamn dry mouth articles. But hey, got paid for the canker sore material yesterday.

- This new office thing is weird. We're renting a small room from a company that rents office suites. So we're on this floor with all these other small companies. The guys across the hall shout in French all the time, and everyone sort of keeps looking us up and down to appraise the newcomers. There are awkward conversations in the communal kitchen, and men insist I get in the elevator first. These are all the sorts of casual social interactions I am bad at and loathe and it's making me a little crazy. That said, I'm very productive in this space, which means I'm spending way less time here.

- Tonight is [livejournal.com profile] ellen_kushner's and [livejournal.com profile] deliasherman's reading down at the Seaport.

- Patty, meanwhile, has finally slept.

- Absurdly, I have no idea how long we're going to be in Ohio, because our schedule is determined, apparently, but some Bowl games (her parents always drive to see Ohio play) so which game they are in determines when they will bring us back to New York. All of which means I know nothing. Because of football!

- The dress for the ball should be here tomorrow.

I loathe those shared office suites. It seems that every floor needs to have some crazy motherfucker who feels the need to spend 90% of his day walking back and forth in his little office screaming into the phone.

From what I remember ours was a talent agent who had Tiffany on his roster back when she was doing Gypsy on Broadway (if I'm remembering correctly). I still dream about the man's larynx climbing up his nasal passages while he sleeps and stabbing his brain to death with the hyoid bone.

I'm meeting a friend for dinner tonight to go over recent developments in my life so I won't make it down to the Seaport for the reading tonight.

When are you going to be in Ohio, and where exactly? We'll be in Greenville for the week of Christmas. Maybe all of us could have coffee!

We'll be in Columbus as of Dec. 26 (she'll be there earlier), and until somewhere between, I think, the 29th and the 1st (it depends on this stupid Bowl game!)

Well damn we're just missing each other. I'll be at my book signing in New Bremen on the 26th and we're heading back to Texas on the 27th. Well, have fun in the super-exciting? Buckeye State!

Are you going to be able to work at home, still? Or now needing to go into the new office?

Had I means, I'd come and house/cat sit in a minute!!

Have to spend time in the new office now. But since my work space at home is in our bedroom, I'm as happy as not to not have this in it.

Aah. Well, not an entirely bad trade, then.

Drive-by, apropos of nothing in this post: I'd been meaning to send you a really fabulous Jack/Ianto by [livejournal.com profile] witling, who is an amazingly super writer but went to a flocked LJ a year or so ago (though friends anyone who wants in on the fic.) You may have seen it already because she's now also posted it in the Torchwood community, but just in case: here and part two here. Highly recommended.

I saw it when it first went up and didn't have the attention span, I've since seen it recced EVERYWHERE, so I need to sit down with it, although the recs have me a bit trepedatious for the level of darkness in it (which I realize sounds odd coming from me).
