There's going to be a dance. Thank _god_.

I may have to wear a dress; in part because it tends to startle people after I've been walking around in drag for a few days (and I have some great dresses -- remember the one from Terminus?) and because it occurs to me that (and this is funny considering th historic dance hobby) I have no idea how to dance to modern music when dressed like a guy. At all. So we just won't be having that. Also, true facr: I am incapable of turning down any excuse to wear an evening gown.

Now if only the full programming schedule would come out and someone would let me know if I'm doing anything for it.

The red one! The Lucy one! You looked stunning in it.

Er, if we get to vote. And I haven't exactly seen a lot of your dresses.

Men don't dance to modern music, either, so that wouldn't be fun! We need to bring back structured social dancing - way more fun, way less stress of "wow, I look like a fool". Not sure why as you actually have to learn things, but having some sort of actual idea of what you should be doing is less stressful than the generic move! move!

Yeah, god, there are few things I hate more than uptight, straight guys trying to dance to club music. It's just death.

This is the dress from Terminus: http://pics.livejournal.com/marchek/pic/000488t0/s320x240

Which has an amazing back:

Wow, yeah. I think my next (actually, probably first adult full-length dress, not that I have occasions to wear them) should be backless, since I have a nice back. (Which sounds weird to say.) That's absolutely amazing, especially the way the straps cross.

I bought it like ten years ago, and I am so grateful it still fits. It's probably the most expensive thing I own that's not custom, but it's been worth every penny. It's what I'm wearing if I win that stupid Australia essay contest.

No lie. Watching gay and bi men successfully dance to club music is much better. If you're looking for male club dancing role models, I'd go for that. Hey, it worked fine for me at D*C...

Heh, and it's not like I didn't spend all of college as the random girl at gay male clubs.

I just bugged the con-chair about programming scheduling, yesterday. He claims he'll have a schedule together "next week" which, in Shaun-speak usually means "two weeks". He's promising the panelists will get some sort of advance notice of what they're doing - but I'm not going to bet on it being more than a fornight's worth.

The dance, last year, was waaaaay underattended, iirc. The karaoke, however, remains a popular spectator sport...

Hahahaha, and on the boards he's all like "by the weekend."

I know the karaoke is the big thing. I'm hoping the TW folks (i.e., a whole lot of pervy girls) can get the dance thing going.

*cough*cough*

Sure. I'll believe it when I see it.

Meantime, it seems like the masque director is taking their cues re: apt response time and such from Shaun as I've not heard a word about ANY prep they've done or help they're in need of and it's driving me up the bloody wall. Not so much that I'm willing to take over, mind you. I'm not that stupid!

Oh, indeed! I think the odds are on your side!

The secret to dancing like a guy to modern music is: you listen for the beat. You put your left leg forward in time with it, letting your arm naturally follow. You make a small gesture with your wrist, perhaps "come hither" or "shoo, fly". You move your leg back and shift your weight to your other foot, repeating in reverse. Occasionally you jazz up this innovating back-and-forth motion by bobbing your head.

All right, so I'm maybe making fun. And I'm pretty much incapable of turning down any excuse to wear an evening gown, too.
