Well, both of the freeways nearest me are jammed because early this morning, a couple of morons got themselves killed going west on the eastbound lanes, leading to a messy head-on collision. Freeways are completely impassable, and this explains the helicopters overhead.

Just guessing, I'd guess the elevators were shut down so they wouldn't produce any sparks that might ignite the gas.

I can't remember where I was the last time there was a gas leak, but that was the reason why they shut down the elevators then.

Must be in the air...we had a false alarm building evac over here today. And yeah, what do they do for ppl in wheelchairs? At least for me they have flashing lights that I do see. The announcement is long and involved, though. Seriously, like three or four sentences. I think it was including instructions to go down the stairs instead of the elevators.
