You've budgeted a certain obscene amount of money for a vacation. Like what you want to spend and what you could go up to if need be,

Due to the shitty economy, you discover you can book that trip for 25% less than your original budget and about 40% off of your absolute high-end total.

Then you discover that because of the shitty economy, if you go back to maxing out your "want to spend" number, you can upgrade to serious motherfucking luxury (and not have a balcony obstructed by life boats).

Do you do it?

And I have to decide today.

If everyone keeps dialing back their spending, it will just make the recession worse. So it is your duty as a citizen to splurge.

(obviously, as others have said, if you feel like you're on financial thin ice and you need to be making cutbacks in a lot of categories, it might be better to conserve. but I'm assuming that if you were in that situation you wouldn't be asking the question in the first place.)
