I'm leaving for LA _early_ tomorrow and I am behind on everything.

I need to get my hair trimmed.

I need to pick up prescription cat food.

I need to find a pair of grey slacks I don't loathe.

I need to make copies of my keys and get them to the cat sitter.

I need to wash my swimsuit.

I need to dig around in my trunk for various costume detail things that only I (and those of you who love me for my rampant inappropriateness) care about.

I need to pack.

I'll probably be doing buttons on the plane.

I NEED TO NOT FORGET THE 100 THINGS I AM PROBABLY FORGETTING.

And you know what really sucks?

I have a cold.

A cold!

Do you know how hard it is to cosplay as Jack "Fucking Awesome" Harkness when one has sinus issues and sounds like a retarded twelve year old? This shit need to be done.

What I find that helps with a cold is my generic allergy meds. It dries out my sinuses and chest so I'm no hacking up a lung. I'll still have sinus pressure (usually dependent on the air pressure in the room I'm in) but I find I can function a lot better.

I am in the exact same boat (right down to the cold and the need to copy my keys for the cat sitter!)

I just keep reminding myself that it will be worth it and that I'll chill out and have an awesome time once I'm there. I'm looking forward to seeing you, btw!

Okay. It's been raining a lot here, so be sure to take that into account.

Apropos of almost nothing, the novels I tend to write tend toward the type of fantasy novel with a Big Burly Barbarian Hero somewhere in them. It's just how I seem to gravitate.
I have been trying for three novels now to find a way to give the hero a miserable cold for most of the action part. I just want to explore how a Burly Hero type would manage to still Do His Burly Man Thing with a miserable sinus infection.

Anyway, good luck with both reality and fantasy, and all the annoying reality stuff that gets in the way.

re: costume trappings
That's been me the past few days, as I try to put together bins of 'here - find something and look wonderful!' things for friends attending Wicked.

(I have two huge garment bags filled with stuff. Just for starters. My haunt actor manager personna is in full swing right now.)

re: cold
Have you tried...I think it's Zyrtec? Those swab things that (if I understand correctly) you swipe inside your nose? I know haunt actors that swear by them for getting rid of the need to sniffle and sneeze your way through a cold.

Because, really. Not much is worse than a sniffly vampire.

Safe travels! Have a glorious time. I am full of envy.

A cold? Oh no!! I find that Tylenol Cold can dry me up like the Sahara. Your mileage may vary, of course.

And I hear you on the '100 things that I'm probably forgetting' and 'stuff that is only important to me' front. Madness, I say. Madness!

But kinda fun, for all that.

Safe and sniffle-free travels. Looking forward to posts on the con (and your panel, yes?)

Whenever I have a cold, I tell myself I sound really gruff and sexy and throaty. If it doesn't sound like that to your ears, that's because colds also affect your hearing - the line of snot makes you think you sound retarded when actually, it's really hot. Honestly.

You are so completely whacked, I feel honored to be on your flist. You know that, right?

BTW - Been meaning to tell you how much I love your Nightcrawler icon. I had some crazy idea of doing a Smirnoff mule icon for you for your b-day, since I work for a beer distributor and have access to the actual Smirnoff logo. But the now Smirnoff logo is off balance and didn't look right no matter what I tried. Plus, I couldn't find a piece of mule clip art that worked. Tons of horses, but I think mules should demand equal clip art time! But hey, if you're interested in the Smirnoff logo, let me know. :P

*Sorry Rm. I hijacked this comment. Bad Thad. Bad.*

Awww, well I awesomely appreciate the thought, it's very sweet of you. I've been faffing trying to make a smirnoff mule icon since forever, but have failed for much the same reasons as you, and also because I suck balls at icon making. But yeah, I'd love the logo if you have it, thanks!

Smirnoff logo. Will do. When I get back to work. Right now I'm home for a day or two coughing up my lungs. ::sigh: If I forget, feel free to send me a reminder. I won't be upset at all. :P

*g*

Sorry you're all poorly. Just remember - coughing is sexy. It involves spasming and bodily fluids and everything.

Prescription cat food! My kitties are on that, thanks to the one whose got urinary problems. It's very strange to me that the store always makes me show a prescription card to buy it, like people would somehow buy more expensive urinary problem cat food just because.

You should try one of those meds you take that supposedly end your cold quickly. Zycam or something? My mom swears by it.
