Con over. I'm trying to make myself feel comfortable in clothes that aren't Jack's.

Waaaaaay not working.

Funny.

Except for the part where it's not.

Drinks now. Pictures later.

I saw your comments earlier about costume and body image.

I've never been to a con nor been involved in a cosplay activity so the way you feel about dressing as a character has piqued my curiosity.

I've sort of mentally cosplayed before.

I had to walk home on a dark-ish road, and felt a little creepy. I knew the best thing to do was to look like "more trouble than I'm worth". However, I know I can't really do that.

So, just in my mind, I decided to pretend to be Bam Margera (in the cast of Jackass). I pictured the look on his face, the way he walks. I imagined he probably had a scorpion in his pocket or something like that, to put in a friend's bed. Anyone would have to be nutsto mess with him.

I'm sure I didn't look any different, but I had a much better time walking home. :-)

Oh, I've done this as well while walking in the dark and being confronted by creepy noises. Or on a job interview. Maybe everybody channels a hero (or someone with the badass chops to handle a given situation) when needed?

Costuming in general in RL - I think many of us have. My Indiana Jones-style jacket makes me feel light-years more rakish and adventurous (not that anybody else would notice, but perhaps they do).

Edited for coherence.
