An incident with a water bottle, some unstable luggage and the fact that Jill is a fucking precog in the hotel lobby led to our Ianto having to mop up the floor a bit.

Okay, I HAVE to know.

What pattern did you use for the coat and overcoat for Ten. Ophymirage (friend, beta, and fellow costumer) has promised to help me with muslins and tailoring, but I will confess to being much more comfy with girl patterns than boystuff.

Both were actually Ebay finds. I don't know the history of the Ten coat, but my Jack coat was originally made by a German theater in the early 1950s to be a costume piece. After that, someone lined it for outdoor wear and it eventually wound up in the hands of a guy who does a military fetish porn site. Too big for any of his girls he tried to sell it to a Nazi collector on Ebay who returned it when he realized no actual nazis had worn it. Then I got my hands on it, had the tailor make a lot of alterations and changed the buttons.

Sadly I can't really help you regarding patterns for these things. I found the coat on ebay after three months of endless searching and the suit I found on the clearance rack at Banana Republic (although I did do extensive alterations on it).

The dw_cosplay community has a couple of links to tutorials for the overcoat and the suit. I have blue/red pinstripe fabric that I intend to turning into another suit using this pattern: http://www.simplicity.com/dv1_v4.cfm?design=3708

Life got complicated over the past three months and the suit was not ready in time for Gallifrey but I do intend of finishing it for future cosplay events.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

Okay, I think I already own that one. If not, that's a piece of cake to find. And the lines AND pockets are right -- when I was at both the London and the Cardiff DW exhibitions (yeah, I got to do both in one trip. It ROCKED!) I was able to get up close and personal with ten's outfit. I LOVE the brown suit, and am committed to doing a version of it.

BTW, for the overcoat, there are 3 gathered seams in the back to make it tailored ever so nicely to that Gallifreyan bum. You can't really tell on the show, and I'd just thought it was the one central gathered seam.

*looks around, chagrinned* As if being a purveyor of Whovian smut weren't nerd enough, I'm a costume geek too.

I'm completely serious, though, fo you or anyone else. If you're coming to ComicCon, keep in touch offlist -- we'll invade, Time Lord style.

I may also be competing in my first ComicCon Masquerade. (I took two Judge's Choice awards at ConJose = WorldCon a coupla years back.)
