this (via [livejournal.com profile] gement) and that (from [livejournal.com profile] jonquil).

it is always the GLBTQ books, the queer books, the non-normative books that get caught in the glitches, the ham-fisted errors.

Because really, what are we if not glitches?

That right there is probably the finest statement on this entire thing.

Yeah...it's a little strange. Never the Harlequin Romance Glitch or the Horror Glitch or the Bible Glitch.

Actually, a whole hell of a lot of Romance writers were pissed off because an entire line of Berkley books, the Berkley Heat line, vanished.

It's a big ol' screwup, with a very disproportionate impact on GLBTQ.

Actually Amazon did bury horror fiction a while back (seriously, try to find it by browsing categories), and many corporate bookstores have taken similar measures over the years. It does NOT compare, but it is a fact.

Sorry, horror geek.

Yeah, and I enjoy good horror, so that kind of thing pisses me off.

It does explain why I don't find a friend's books in most bookstores, though.

Also: most corporate bookstores have taken to burying RPG books. The stated reason is high theft.

It is only with great restraint that I do not correctly reshelve the RPG books and graphic novels at my local B&N.

In regards to horror in particular, I have tried explaining to the stores several times that if I am given the opportunity to comfortably browse in my area of interest the chances of my continuing to patronize that store AND spending more money there increase exponentially. If I know what I want I'm going to go to some place like Amazon because I know it will be in stock and probably at a good discount and that's the only thing I'm going to purchase.

Thanks for more links.

I think the story keeps getting worse, and not better.

Yeah, for once I'd like to see it affect children's books in one fell swoop. Or all YA books. Or even all history textbooks that are dull as dirt.

(Actually those last *SHOULD* be rounded up and gotten rid of, considering the damage they do...)

Milton was caught in a glitch. Milton may have been odd, but Milton was no non-normative book. A furry, perhpas. But not a book.

I don't believe it was an error on the part of an employee. I believe it was an intentional act by an employee with an agenda.

Still pissed at the lack of a clear statement from Amazon, and this (http://www.afterellen.com/node/48877) seeme to be another indication that Amazon has a less-than-innocent history with this subject.
