  • Patty and I got fabulously discounted tickets to Cirque and are going on April 28th, which is more or less our anniversary (we actually have no idea, although I should look something up -- it might actually be this weekend).

  • I'm doing my taxes RIGHT NOW.

  • It felt really good to finish that story last night. It was atypical for me stylistically in a lot of ways, and it was good to struggle through the difficult parts. I rarely view fanfiction as any sort of practice for pro-fic -- it's a completely different muscle for me, but this was useful from a work ethic perspective. Maybe this means the three other half-finished Torchwood fics on my harddrive (not including stuff Kali and I are working on) will get done soon.

  • Okay, so I'm only kinda doing my taxes RIGHT NOW. But I will be. In a second.

  • Horrible computer problems persist. Temporary fix seems to have been nuking Firefox 3.x and reinstalling 2.x although the problem did not seem to be solely resident with Firefox. Anyone else?

  • Amusingly, Patty's archaeology conference in Atlanta next week? At the Marriott!

  • Also amusingly, Nathan Fillion's on Twitter now.

I have two 1099s I can't find, but thankfully have decent records so I'm good.

    And that sucks.

Local Field Office can print out a transcript of your wages for the year that can be submitted with your tax form :)

rm, can you give me the details of your computer problem again?
Its pretty rare than firefox would need an uninstall.

I apologize for not just reading the previous post.

Well, first of all, it doesn't seem to have worked.

Basically, I run Firefox with gmail in a tab all the time. Periodically (at it's worse, about every five minutes) my whoel computer locks and needs to be rebooted.

Virus scan and malware scans show nothing.

Problem happens way less frequently using Firefox 2.x than 3.x or if I stay out of gmail. Other web-based email (like Yahoo) cause similar but less frequent problems.

Does not happen on my home machine (running Firefox 2.x).

In the previous post other people comment with their own experience with the same thing. Something's going on, but none of us can find the root cause.

Is there a possible third element? Something running on this PC that isn't running on the home PC? a Plug-in, extension or such?

For shits and giggles you can make sure that Java is fully patched (most people, me included, tend to ignore the "java needs to be updated" notification)

I've seen no notification about java. How would I find out?

There is annoying orange icon that pops up in the task manager area.
If you don't see it, then you probably don't need an update.

Whats baffling me the most is that Firefox is locking your whole PC.
I've seen it eat 300 megs of ram and cause all hell, but I have rarely seen it cause a whole machine crash.

    Weird.

    I should look something up

You said somewhere that you had to break your first date to do a credit card commercial with an angry chihuahua and- James Gandolfini? -if that helps at all.

Only seen it on CBC, whic h is a constant recurring event.(Unless it's been on the other Canadian networks, in which case, I've seen it there too.)
I really love them. Although, with all due respect, if you do not have The Animals, you are not The Circus, you are the Modern Dance Troupe.
They really transformed all kinds of stuff.(You should write that essay. For money, not for us freeloaders.)

It's somehow bad that I see Nathan Fillion and my only association with him is that Barrowman's partner supposedly looks like him. Who is that guy? I need to look him up so he is more than a real-person-lookalike.

He was the star of Firefly. And you don't even want to know what my main association with him is. Because it's worse.

The show I never caught, ah okay. Now I'm curious and have THOUGHTS lol that are probably worse than the actual story.

    Yeah, they probably are.

Basically Fillion was a hilarious drunken footnote to a particularly absurd story from Dragon*Con. Despite having no direct relevance to the larger story, his random involvement in it sort made the whole thing. So as much as I love Firefly, for the rest of my life, my image of Fillion is probably going to be this footnote description of incoherent drunkenness.

He's currently on the mystery/crime show Castle as the title character (a mystery writer who gets caught up in real-life crime stories - but he's no Angela Lansbury).

I got tix to Cirque for me an Ian for our belated 3 1/2 yr/Vday celebration! We're going April 23! I am so excited as life is hell and I could really use a dose of wonder...also have never seen Cirque save on a videotape off of PBS that I used to watch when I was sick back in grade school.

    YAY!

Did you know that when they f' up a trick they do it OVER AGAIN to make it right? SO AWESOME.

I feel your tax pain. I need a T5 from some stock that got bought out this summer. I know I have to claim some capital gains and that they will be eaten up by all the money I lost when Nortel went belly up, but I need the damn forms to do the paperwork! Bleh!

    Sigh.
