Slept too long last night with the heat on and now my face and throat feel swollen. I went out and did a lot of errands, and that helped some, but it's such an unpleasant sensation.

So, clothes are at the dry-cleaners, more resumes are in my hand, gifts acquired and great groceries (including none of the awful things I always but that I shouldn't have, and better containers for bringing my lunch to work more, as it's healthier and cheaper -- as well as the healthy things that I actually like to eat). For me to do all of this by this hour on a Sunday is fairly astounding and is mostly testament to my not having any other time to do it.

Also sat in Shakespeare and company for an hour reading plays and looking for monologues. I came away with nothing, but I suppose that's okay, it's a process, blah blah. But now that I feel ready to attack the monologue work/situation, I can't bloody find anything I connect with. But I suppose if I can make an hour a week (or more) to sit on the floor of a bookshop and read plays, that's a hugely smart bit of work to be doing.

I'm still utterly transfixed by what's going on in San Francisco. Among other things, it's the _momentum_ of it that's so incredible, as well as the bravery of SF's new mayor (a straight, married Catholic man who had been in office only two weeks when he put this thing in motion, and went through with it despite many gay activists trying to tell him it wasn't the right time -- you can read about him here: http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2004/02/15/MNGMN51F8Q1.DTL ). I'm working on putting together a list of link and info on "what can you do" if you support equal marriage rights, and should manage to get that posted later today.

For anyone who isn't already clear, this isn't a gay or straight thing, but a human thing and to deny loving committed individuals the option of the 1,049 federal rights that come with marriage is among other things, insane and insulting.

Anyway, I have a big headache and a raft of data entry work to be doing and a ton of headshots to send out and blah blah blah. But that's life here.

You know what's great about Gavin Newsom, our mayor? The liberals here did not like him when he was running. He nearly lost to a Green candidate. And he's been really chastized for being too conservative. But this, this took BALLS. And it's earned him a lot of respect from those of us who never thought he had it in him.

When Aaron was living in SF (October 2003-early January) he was not impressed with what he heard about Gavin Newsom. Clearly, those reports were exceedingly incorrect. He's doing the right thing and doing it very well indeed. Such people are the real heroes of any battle.

So the question becomes:
when you getting hitched?
lol

As a note of interest

Bill O'Reilly is going to do the pro/con on the high school doing The Vagina Monologues tonight. As this is sure to be a NeoCon romper stomper I thought you might be interested.

I didn't even know a high school was doing it... god, the onyl con I can think of, from a non-political standpoint, is there's enough shit to be angry about at that age, and so much of that show is older woman anger.

Yea, I thought something similar. With San Franciso and this it makes me think that perhaps the social pendullum is swinging back to the left again no?
