Yup. Overall, I'm not dismayed The language changes that have been happening on Whitehouse.gov worry me a bit, as does the clusterfuck that the supreme court confirmation hearings are going to be (because they always are) especially if the nominee is gay.
I'm glad to see other people who recognize that fact. I've seen several people who are jumping up and down while screaming "See! He's just more of the same!" It's not like flicking a lightswitch. I know that it can be hard to wait. (I'm really wishing NY would catch up with the rest of this corner of the country so my brother can get married. At this point, it's a race between NY changing the law & his transitioning.)
I hadn't heard about the weight commentary. That's just asking for a whole other rant from me.
Of course, in Canada, your friend and her partner would have the same rights throughout the entire country, at all levels of government, enforceable by law. And I believe there may be some other things that might recomend us.
