(no subject)

I'm moody. And I'm done with winter. I can't take another bloody second of it. I want to be beautiful, and happy and optimistic, and there's still three-week-old-black-with-soot ice on the ground and that doesn't make it easy.

Will I get better value out of an expensive yuppie gym/classes that fits with my narrative and hence motivates me to get there (I used to sit on benches in Soho, in the rain, before school for utterly no reason) or if I sign up for the cheap crappy gym around the corner, which has the main benefit of being around the corner and not requiring a year membership (so I could go for a quarter and then make a decision)?

I bought a new shampoo, that smells like something from my past, and I can't think of what, but it's distracting me massively.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. That's the worst part of this season; and the damned black ice mounds are everywhere. I hate them.

I like the ice mounds just enough to respect their tenacity. Why is this piece of ice not melted when all around it others are long gone? Usually an obvious answer is that that piece was thicker than the others, and so its outer shell of ice keeps the interior cold, which then helps preserve the outer shell, like a little slime mold community made of frozen water. Sure, you can hate them, but what are you doing about them except harboring the hate? Sprinkle salt or de-icer, break them up into smaller meltable pieces with a shovel, these are pro-active things which can be done. If they're not done, you live with the consequences of the decision to do nothing.

Yes, black ice mounds as metaphor for American politics.

i love this post.

gym around corner - if it had a good eliptical trainer which i could use and didn't smell funny i would join that.

shampoo... herbal essances (the pink kind) reminds me of getting drunk on red wine after a show one night with my good friend brian where things "happened"... his apartment smelled like vanilla and that shampoo... heh.

winter sucks my ass. you've got the city, though... i'm stuck here in the MIDWEST (*shudder*)... least i'm going into chicago on sunday. thank goodness...

have a good day... ;)
