Just listened to the Torchwood audiobook In the Shadows and man, was that ridiculous and satisfying.

But then! Someone had to go and link me to this: http://tinyurl.com/l8u2nu which arguably contains implied spoilers for Children of Earth that are really fucking distressing even if I've been saying for months that Ianto is not going to die and the rumour mongering is just the usual fan wank and drama.

Really, it's so ridiculous. Hello, I went through the Snape thing. I was ready for that. I'm only bummed his death wasn't more epic (snake bubble to the head? really?). But Ianto! Not my favorite character, but the one it would definitely break my heart to see go. I'd analyze that for you all, but it's so hardly necessary I'd like to pretend to keep my dignity on the subject, but NOW I'M REALLY FUCKING FREAKED. And can't, apparently, stop listening to really depressing stuff on last.fm.

I can't believe how freaked out I am. Because seriously, that track list look grim, unless there's a whole plot ruse that involves his supposed death (or, if, as has been speculated, the glove comes into play again).

We don't know that there aren't more. There was also a photo in TW magazine in the last couple of months of Jack with a glove that absolutely, positively was not one of the two we've already seen.

The only good thing, re: soundtrack is if what we're seeing does = Ianto death, it looks like they are totally going to wallow in it, which you know, THANK GOD. (*gripes about Harry Potter some more*)

You and about 90% of the fandom. I've already read one Ianto death in fandom this weekend, if it becomes canon I may just give up on humanity.

To be honest I'm more concerned that the show, in general, will die. And with the state of TV being such crap (read: I'm still fucking bitter about Pushing Daises being canceled without being given a proper chance) if one more decent, brilliant show gets canned I just quit.

There was a "let's all kill Ianto" phase in the fandom a couple of winters ago. I kept running into deathfic, deathfic, deathfic, and ended up writing a drabble as sort of a passive-aggressive meta/personal canon thing. Not sure it's comforting, but...

I'm not sure if it's more or less crazy that I can totally deal with characters I identify with getting killed, but totally can't deal with it when their romantic interests are killed off.

with that bit of maturity out the way: Not only was Snape's death gratuitous (if telegraphed), it MADE NO SENSE. He's a frigging POTIONS MASTER who's been working around a giant frigging snake for MONTHS. And who has, in fact, previously constructed the SPECIFIC antivenin for THIS snake, because he bloody well fed it to Arthur Weasley two books ago. He REALLY doesn't have a holdout vial? Come ON.
