There really aren't words for what a trooper Patty's been this week.
Hey, more tomatoes are ready to eat.
Weird music request of the day: I'm trying to buy all the songs on this really emo (and odd) Ianto mix I made a few weeks ago (so not a spoiler!) on Last.fm and I've been able to find most of them. But I'm not on the impossible hunt for Farewell Johnny Miner by The Whisky Priests. Can anyone help?
Jesus, I am still torn the fuck up and keep crying randomly.
I know why it is for me, but I don't actually think that's why it's fucking everyone else up, because it seems most people identified with the character. I didn't.
I got that. Jack's losing Ianto is equivalent to your *Evil Thing I Will NOT say* You completely get Jack. Most people your age or younger get Ianto. The pain is not stupid or frail. It's a very grown up sort of sorrow.
Big picture:SF/F is our culture's(a culture that's just getting started,)Homer* A thousand years from now, it still will be. We are speaking in Classical English, because the conversation begins here. It's not foolish. It's serious.
*Anyone who thinks I mean Mr. Simpson, please leave the room, and let the adults talk, yeah?
You keep mentioning the Ianto mix. Is this something you listen to when you're writing about him, or does it help you connect with the character in some other way?
I don't know what it is. It sort of started as a joke/bored at work thing when I was listening to Last.fm. A couple of the tracks are things I listened to on repeat to write my parts of the last several installments of IHNIIHBT, but some of it is just random stuff that makes me think of the character narrative or background or just sort of general rough kid playing dress up with suits. It's a really odd mix of songs, and I'm not even sure why I could explain why all of them are on there, but it's my iPod playlist now... if I could just find that last track (which got added after it randomly came on my last.fm two weeks ago and made me burst into instant tears over the season 3 rumours).
Jesus, I am still torn the fuck up and keep crying randomly.
Me too.
You know what I realised? I realised that Ianto's whole attitude when he was walking into Thames House was that strange giddiness that you describe him having in the "better than coins" scene in IHNIIHBT. It was exactly that. And it broke me a little bit more.
I liked what you did better. What you and Kali did, it made me sad, but it was satisfying. You gave Ianto a little more time, even though you never shirked away from the inevitability that he would die young. You gave me catharsis. The show has just given me grief.
I am still torn the fuck up and keep crying randomly.
