I now know what I will be doing at Dragon*Con, although I don't know when. In addition to modeling in the steampunk fashion show, I will also be presenting a paper ("Beyond Queering the Villain: Severus Snape, Gender and Heroism"), judging the YA costume contest and appearing on two panels on the YA Lit track: one on Alternative Sexualities in YA lit and one on Women Warriors in YA lit. It's gonna be good, guys.
Kali and I had a story meeting tonight for Enough to Go By and very cursorily for our project after that (the Jenny/Jack/Ianto fic). We've redrawn the EtGB arc to encompass certain key elements of CoE while discarding others in a way that it is entirely justifiable under the laws and structure of the Whoniverse. Because we like to be as canon compliant as possible, even when that doesn't seem possible at all, this was Not Easy, but has been achieved. We're thrilled, and although it's lengthened the piece from 5 chapters to 10, we hope to have chapter 2 coming at you before WriterCon.
Patty and I are for Boston this weekend, which means we need to get bus tickets and return your email! Since my computer at work metled down today and took me with it -- that will be tomorrow.
Did anyone notice that Keith Olbermann's tie tonight was the same as Ianto's death tie?
Book sales continue to be awesome, I have to assume it's because of impending HBP release. ONly two left in stock on Amazon right now.
My skin is peeling form last weekend's sunburn. Yuck.
Okay, off to wrok on my Golden Age TW fic and respond to some threads about a virtual season that may be in the works.
And, as we discover in comments, there's a photo of me on page 93 (93! ha!) of the current issue of Movie Magic magazine. I'm in my Abraxus Malfoy costume dancing with stupid_drawings.
If you hadn't planned on doing so, would you mind posting your paper after presenting it (or can I at lease beg for a copy)? I'd love to hear / read this, but since I won't make it to the con I figured I'd just out and out beg.
I've given a previous version of the paper before and never posted it because it wasn't really finalized. I'd be happy to send you the as yet to be done Powerpoint (I can't beleive they want a fucking powerpoint and feel some degree of dread about this) when I'm done. I'm hoping to actually manage to get the thing published, possibly finding an avenue for such out of said con -- so I can't promise I'll post it, but if it doesn't find a home, I will post it here eventually.
Looks like a pleasantly busy Dragon*Con for you, yay! I really enjoyed the Alternative Sexualities in YA Lit panel last year, and am looking forward to that and the Women Warriors one as well.
I don't recall if I replied to your earlier post saying I'd love to see you and Patty when you're in Boston, but please put me on your get-together list, if you will. My e-mail address is my username at gmail.
I don't know if this has been mentioned to you, but it looks like there's a photo of you at one of the HP balls on page 93 of the latest issue of Movie Magic. Your hair is blond, you're wearing a blue feathered mask, light waistcoat and a dark jacket.
I don't think I own a blue feathered mask, but I may be forgetting something. What's funny is if it's not me, I know exactly who it is. Is this online anywhere?
I don't think it's online, but I'm thinking of scanning it in. It looks so very much like one of the outfits I've seen you wearing, but perhaps I'm mistaken. I believe it was taken at either Prophecy or Phoenix Rising.
LOL! I thought so. I recognize several people from my flist, but you were the first one. I remembered your outfit, and the dancing seemed so very in character.

makes me incredibly happy. Threesome fics for the win. Reasonable canon-compliance a wonderful bonus.
Oh, I wrote that crack bunny, by the way. Almosy included a scene with FoB but, you know, your FoB remains my canon and in my mind, Ianto left that note electronically for Jack on his wrist-strap, so Jack still receives it and goes on to be grand, too.
Awesome. I'm really keen to hear your Snape stuff, actually. Also, I'm clearly a bit thick since I can't seem to find many Lit Track schedule-type things. Slightly frustrating, considering that I'm thinking of making this a bit of a writing networking con here and there. Advice? ("Go look some more" is, obv, an acceptable answer here.)
Also, YAY WRITERCON. I really, really need to reply to that e-mail...

The thing is there isn't a lit track. All the lit people are littered across different tracks (much like the queer content and the academic content) -- so there are writers in the Military SF track and the Steampunk track and so forth.
Right now, you should just chill until the complete schedule grid that you can integrate with your gmail gets released.
This is also going to be a bit of a business-y con for me too, so yeah... we'll plan.
