[livejournal.com profile] rexluscus points to this awesome Face of Boe story from [livejournal.com profile] concertigrossi. You'll be reading along going "this is good," but not feeling like it's necessarily a significant work, and then, if you're like me, you'll get to the end and totally freak out and have to go cry in the bathroom at work.

It's awesomecakes.

Also, in the post CoE universe? This icon by [livejournal.com profile] swordnsorcery made my day.

Oh, thank you for linking to “In Perpetuity.” Luckily I’m on my dinner break, so I can cry for the next 15 minutes.

The sniffles are contagious. And I heart that icon.

I have to confess I've been dicking around with melodies all evening, and may record something to email the author. If she's amused I'll share.

I think I can safely say, with some authority, that the author would not be amused so much as thrilled beyond words.

Give me another day... I want it to work. If you had anything in your head for it, please let me know, as I've got one I'm playing with that's very lullabye and is a gentle little soprano of a thing, and another one that's more low and otherworldly and weird -- sorta like the stuff the Dead Can Dance chick does.

Please, take as long as you need, I certainly didn't want to add pressure. :) Seriously, I didn't think people would think much of this fic at all, much less want to write music for it. I've been going around with a big, goofy grin on my face for the last two days. And when I saw your post there about the music, I had to e-mail a link to a friend, asking, "Is she talking about MY fic?" :)

As for what kind of music.. when I was writing it, I had been thinking of something along the lines of a Gregorian plainsong, something that would echo in a sacred space... definitely trending towards the otherworldly and weird. :) (Do you mean like in "Devorzhum?" Because I LOVE that song...)

I expect it started out as something like a gentle lullaby when he first conceived of it, but morphed, especially once he started teaching it to other people... so really, either interpretation will work, so, and I mean this sincerely, go with whatever your inspiration tells you will work best. :)

Thanks for this rec! I'm not even that fond of Torchwood, but I knew enough to follow most of it, and the end choked me up.

OMG, I blame you, RM--first you get me intrigued, then curious, then I'm staying up all night and hunting online for episodes--now I've gone and bought the DVDs from AMAZON (a company I swore that I would never use after Easter, but they had such a great deal on all three seasons) and now I'm crying over fanfic.

I blame you, I think you're fantastic, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sandy does too--she's just as hooked as I am. We've sat and watched season one and are three eps into season two (and she doesn't even know what happens in CoE yet-but she bawled like a baby at the end of Captain Jack Harkness and Ghosts).

*hugs* And a million, billion, gazillion thanks. :))

A reference to this rec last night at the bar led to three of us trying to write down all our lovers - and for two of us, trying to name them all. I'm not sure what either of the others will be doing with their lists; I'm trying to think of somewhere important to keep mine. Because yes, they need to be remembered.
