Do you know this girl?

The girl can't remember who she is. By the details in the article it seems very possible that she is in some way a member of one of our communities as there are indications of fannishness and her own writing endeavors.
"One of the weirdest clues to her identity is that she recently found herself recalling words that turned out to be an excerpt from the fantasy novel "Fool's Fate," by best-selling author Robin Hobb.

The book is part of a well-reviewed trilogy that has sold more than 1 million copies.

According to the ACS, the girl also said she has been writing a fantasy story featuring a heroine named Rian "who's been raised by the commander of the guard post on the edge of a fantasy kingdom."

Officials declined to make her available for an interview.

They asked anyone with information to contact the NYPD Missing Persons Squad at (212) 694-7781."

Everyone deserves to know who they are. Spread the link, and if you have info, please contact the police.

Also? Don't read the comments if you want to retain any tiny shred of hope for humanity.

I'm still trying to teach myself Don't Read The Comments. My rabbit is easier to teach than I am.

We had one of those in August here in Seattle.

Discovered within minutes of posting the story online to be

with some unreliable half-memories. ah, they did track down the wife thing... at first they couldn't find records of his marriage.
As of a month after his identification, he still didn't place himself, though.

It's a strange thing. I hope it does not become the next big thing, because, seriously, brains are not supposed to work like that.

My brain works like that. Then again, I have multiple sclerosis.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully not your whole past at once. Brrr. Pieces is bad enough, but... Brrr.

Amber is another link to Robin Hobb (and may actually be the Fool.) Amber is a main character in the LiveShip trilogy.

Re: not reading comments. I've had better luck just not reading news stories. *sigh* It makes my life easier, even if I don't know what's going on in the world.

Someone suggested she may be this girl (http://www.50statesclassifieds.com/myspace/Kara-Kopetsky.jpg), who has been missing since 2004. I hope that's true.

Yeah, their original article had no info on the possible fannish parts of the story. I just added another mention of it on my latest post.

Thanks for finding that!

I'm still bothered by how the POST ran this article.

It was almost like it was more important to mention how well sold that book was then helping this girl.

Glad she was found.
