headshots

I've not looked through all 505 shots yet. These are a few that grabbed me from the ones the photog said were his favorite.

Color is EXTREMELY unforgiving and these are unretouched. Just so you know. Comments on what says "me" and "hire me" welcome. Comments on things the retoucher will fix (everything from unevenness in my lipstick to stray hair to clothing wrinkles), while welcome, aren't needed; I pay people for that ;)

I have things to say about all of them and me and the process and what I see about me in them, but I don't want to share until I hear you all as I am a biasing force, although I will admit I'm in that "I'm ugly and weird" phase of this process (totally typical) because of how NOT MODERN my face is no matter what I do.

Also, there will be more posted later as I'll probably bounce around in a few directions in the process of making choices. And yes, I'll be choosing multiple photos for multiple purposes including a couple of headshots, a little special skills card (with dance and fencing photos) and various other things.

I am doing color because, despite kinda everything about me, film loves me and I love film.

The blue and the red about both gorgeous colors on you; they especially catch my eye (of course you look awesome in the suit, but we all knew that, right?)

I love the one of you in the black leaning against the wall. It seems to tell more of a story, somehow.

And OMGsuit!

I agree with the wall picture. It tells me there's depth, that there's a story that rm should be in.

The red shirt is an awesome color & nice shot, but, doesn't grab me as much.

#2 is very graceful -- rm looks like a dancer there to me.

White shirt doesn't do anything for me. It's a nice photograph, but, doesn't grab me if I'm looking for depth & story.

Both suit shots are nice because of the background. Again... there's a feeling of story. But the black leaning against the wall is far & away my favorite.

I like #2 with the blue and the little smile, and #7 with the very direct, challenging gaze and the suit. Depending on what role you are going for, it gives some variety.

I also liked #5...don't know why. It has an inviting feel to it.

My personal favorites:

Top blue dress is BREATHTAKING. Piercing, elegant, sensual. OMG. Fantastic.

Black dress.

Bottom suit.

Oh, and in the last post - the red dancing one with the oncoming train? Fantastic also!

Whoever did the makeup did really well. Not too much retouching needed on the face.

I'd vote for the red shirt and the 2nd suit shot for your hire me shots. Great presence there.

Yeah, I'm 100% sure on that second suit shot. That is the bomb right there. The rest of it, I've no idea (it's going to be a headshot and then a fencing shot on one side and a dane shot on the other for a comp card). A lot of the rest of it is jsut stuff for my website to come.

3 and 5 are my favorites.

I know nothing about what makes a salable headshot, but I feel like there's a negative emotion in the first two.

The suit photos are enigmatic and fabulous.

ETA: I just looked at them again after about 45 minutes, and my opinion of the first image has shifted. I saw it and immediately thought "SCI FI HEROINE YES." There's something Ivanova-meets-Janeway about it, but with the 2010's flip of how that character is allowed to be sexy. Does that make sense? I realize I might not be making sense.

Anyway, 1 is rad. Fierce, even.

Oh, #5 grabs me - the one leaning against the wall.

My 3 favorites (in order)

1) Black, leaning against the wall, OMG that is so alluring with a spot of melancholy
2) Bottom in suit... so direct
3) Red - enigmatic

And dancing on the train platform for a bonus... loved the lines in that shot as well.

(PS - REALLY grooving on your journal)

I like the third and the last one the best, and the fifth one is also very good. I gotta say, most of my experience in picking headshots is biased towards black and white, so I admit I'm looking a little bit at what I think will translate well to that medium. None of them look bad, by any means, though I admit I was looking for the usual open-mouthed smile that headshots usually give you. And, uh, the first two give you more chest than I'm used to seeing! And that surprised me for some reason.

Color is the thing here now. It was starting to be even six years ago when I got my last ones, but I resisted it then. Now, especially if you're at all inclined towards film stuff, you can't avoid it, which sorta sucks, but it's VERY unforgiving and harder, i think to make an impression with.

Yeah, I'm not that busty (B-cup), but I'm really slight, so with push-up bra it's a little ridiculous, especially considering large swathes of my life.

You do indeed have a very long face. You are also, indeed, strikingly beautiful. As in, these shots of you definitely set of my "hubba-hubba" reflex. ;-)

I really like the first suit one, with you looking off contemplatively into the distance. Strong and mysterious.

Second..hrm..the one leaning against the wall in the black dress. That's a nice shot.

The others...ehhh...the blue dress is probably gorgeous in person, but doesn't do a lot for me in the shot. (Although your face in the top pic is great)

1st suit one is my fave, looking away.
Then the one in the red shirt.
Then the very first one in the blue dress.

the red shirt and the last suit shot in my opinion

Wow, the last two, in the suit are amazing! The last one has very much the look of a young eastern European man come to make his way in NYC in perhaps the 1930s.

Looking again - I also really love the 4th pic (with the red shirt). I oddly see this as a photo of someone somewhat outdoorsy, in a horseback riding way. It's unexpected and very good.

I will not make RM cat macros. I will not make RM cat macros...

Seriously, though, these are beautifully done. The last one is my favorite, though I also love the brick shirt and (weirdly) the first one. That one specifically because of the color and how it brings out the cool tones in your skin.

I have no idea about how hiring-useful these are, but the last one in particular feels like a story.

The first photo is riveting. I can't look away from it. I can't see how anyone could.

YAY HEADSHOTS!

Not that you look unattractive in the uncollared shirts, but oxford collars definitely flatter you. I like the very last pic, in the suit, and yes, the brick shirt. :D

Red shirt--wonderful
Suit (looking at camera)-- incredible.
Blue--awesome color for you.
White shirt--great exposure with bright background

Jesus, you are attractive as any gender.
The first shot is my favorite. I like the slightly preoccupied thoughtful expression.

#1 is the one I want on my wall if I ever get around to doing the whole collage of family pictures thing. #5 screams 'hire me' to me. The first suit shot is more superhero movie poster/book cover than the second, in my very limited experience. All great shots.

First shot is an absolute killer. You look amazing--very strong and very beautiful (and very, very outside of time). Something very direct and powerful about the last shot too.

These are such a contrast to the modelings pics from a few years ago..
I'm not sure I have much input, but the suit pics are just such a striking difference
