I've not looked through all 505 shots yet. These are a few that grabbed me from the ones the photog said were his favorite.
Color is EXTREMELY unforgiving and these are unretouched. Just so you know. Comments on what says "me" and "hire me" welcome. Comments on things the retoucher will fix (everything from unevenness in my lipstick to stray hair to clothing wrinkles), while welcome, aren't needed; I pay people for that ;)
I have things to say about all of them and me and the process and what I see about me in them, but I don't want to share until I hear you all as I am a biasing force, although I will admit I'm in that "I'm ugly and weird" phase of this process (totally typical) because of how NOT MODERN my face is no matter what I do.
Also, there will be more posted later as I'll probably bounce around in a few directions in the process of making choices. And yes, I'll be choosing multiple photos for multiple purposes including a couple of headshots, a little special skills card (with dance and fencing photos) and various other things.
I am doing color because, despite kinda everything about me, film loves me and I love film.

Date: 2010-02-09 04:12 am (UTC)The blue photos are also lovely, but I'm not sure. In the first one, you seem sad, and in the second, although you are smiling, you also seem sad. I'm not sure if it's because I'm seeing them in sequence, though. Between the two, I'd have to pick the first.

Date: 2010-02-09 04:38 am (UTC)That said, the one in the red shirt is my favorite. I like the first shot second best and love the second one in the suit. I love your hair. I love that you can be so many different looks and still be you. There's magic in that, or hard work, or both. Probably both.
It's your eyes in all three of those shots. The other shots are also good, but those are my favorites.
The red is a good color for you.

Date: 2010-02-09 04:55 am (UTC)You have really expressive eyes. Interesting to hear you say you think your looks aren't "modern". Would it be a good thing to do some pictures in period clothes? Apart from the sweetheart neckline in the top pic, I mean, which makes me thinks of the 1950s. But something like 1920s or Edwardian or something?
I'd like this photographer to take my picture. I dislike most pictures of me.

Date: 2010-02-09 04:56 am (UTC)And no,normally you just try to wear really neutral stuff so they can picture you in whatever. I pretty much never get cast in anything happening now. To some degree these headshots are an attempt to change that, but I don't think they will!

Date: 2010-02-09 05:06 am (UTC)Actually, now I want to take that black dress one as well and do that for the alternate versions.
The blue dress ones make great headshots. The red shirt, like the suit, remains fabulous and the best color for you, but the pic isn't as grabby to me.

Date: 2010-02-09 06:43 am (UTC)I especially love the first and last ones. They're just so... enigmatic and together sort of bookend the range of looks you can have.

Date: 2010-02-09 02:34 pm (UTC)Congrats on being the only person who caught that. I remember taking that shot, and having a moment and really trying to keep my shit together, because again, windy rooftop, standing on a table, didn't feel like explaining it to the photographer.

Date: 2010-02-09 07:02 am (UTC)I imagine that the one of you leaning against the wall (5) sits weirdly with you. It's not a look I associate with you, but it's fabulous. It's sophisticated and modern and feminine. I love it.
The first one ... It makes me feel ok about being a stranger in this place. And I think that's good. It's also mildly unsettling, and that's good, too.
The bottom suit - this is good. It is very good. The one above it makes me think a little too much of Galt. Which makes me uncomfortable in a not as good way. You just look so young and idealistic and staring out into the future.
Your clothes in the third one are perfect. Truly truly perfect. The face is too washed out, but black and white would fix it perfectly.
