Just who buys those anonymous cell phones? Legislation may soon end the ability to buy pre-paid cellphones anonymously. Sure, it might make life hard for drug dealers, but it's going to do a number on reporters and folks dealing with domestic violence too.
A one night concert of Brigadoon is happening in New York. Tickets are ridiculously expensive as it's a benefit, but I remain tempted. It and Camelot are my two most favorite Broadway shows.
There are Doctor Who controversies afoot. I know what they are and have nothing to say because I am six episodes behind you. This is unintentional but kinda nice, because I don't have to spend time telling people they are wrong or talking about how much I hate being in a TV fandom while it's happening. I do, however, need to catch up, lest anything happening this season be relevant to a chapter proposal I'm working on.
Last night, more Angel. JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. Also, what did Cordelia do to her hair? Also, also, I still maintain the thing about RTD being a Wesley/Angel shipper and looking at the current state of that clusterfuck, I'm currently seeing Torchwood and Jack/Ianto through the lens of "everything goes to hell, what does it look like if it's fixable?" Also, Patty says something is coming soon that will make me flip out at how obvious it is that RTD stole it, and she doesn't even know TW that well since she doesn't watch it. I can't possible figure out what the hell it could be and you all are not allowed to tell me.
Re: Folks cleaning up the spill getting sick. Between this and the Massey Energy mine collapse, I feel like I am in a time warp from 2010 to the Gilded Age.
My big question is this: now that we have a huge example that pollution makes people sick and ruins livelihoods, will the Right in this country still cast those whose insist on clean air and water and express a desire to NOT live in the next Love Canal as hippy Luddites who hate America? And if they do, will the folks in the Gulf and in deadly Appalachian realize that they have been sold out by the likes of Palin, Paul, Beck, et al?
I don't know what the controversies are that people are talking about but Jane noticed something about the last episode I found incredibly disturbing. Here's a hint: it involves men being calm and rational and women being controlled by their wacky, lady emotions. Thanks, Chris Chibnall!
Oh ugh! That should be the item of discussion, but isn't. NOT GOOD.
Oh hey, if you're in town and bored today, Patty and Jill and I and maybe a few other people are having a picnic in Central Park. If you're bored, feel free to come by. Email me or page Jill for locational details.
There's been a lot of problems with the characterization of Amy Pond from a feminist perspective throughout which is sad because I've been really liking this season and hate always having this nagging feeling that I oughtn't.
I wish I could share a picnic with you but Jane and I have familial responsibilities in a place that is not our fair city of New York. Please keep us in mind next time you are getting people together for food in picnic-like locales because that sounds like a rad time.
It's driving me crazy because there aren't that many things Patty knows about TW.
So the options are limited. Does Wesley have a secret robot girlfriend in the basement? Is there timetraveling? Does Angel bring him back to life with a kiss? Does he wind up Dead Like Owen? Are there faeries? That's really all I've got.
Outlawing anonymous cell phones will put a lot of cell phone dealers out of business around here. I think a lot of people sans documents get them in this area.
