  • [livejournal.com profile] sihaya09 is assembling a list of resources for how to discuss social justice issues. Got suggestions? Follow the link.

  • Civil unions in Hawaii are on a potential veto list. If no action is taken, the unions will become law on July 6.

  • Oh for fuck's sake: Obama may veto the DADT repeal because of wasteful spending stuff in the rest of the bill.

  • A year ago Neda died.

  • I was negligent yesterday and did not mention Juneteenth, which is the oldest commemoration of the end of slavery in the US. I'm sorry.

  • "Affordable" boutique hotels in NYC. We're still talking room rates of about $200 a night, but what you get for what you pay is better for the ones on this list.

  • Things I am excited about: Baz Luhrmann (World Directors) by Pam Cook, mainly because she had extensive access to the Bazmark archives for this.

  • There's about four hours left to vote in [livejournal.com profile] writerinadrawer round 4.02. As of now, there's apparently a 4-way tie. If you like Torchwood fanfic go check out these little morsels (all stories this week are 300 words of less) and vote.

  • Last night on Buffy: DISGUSTING SKIN-EATING DEMON! Invisible Willow (see, see, Willow/Giles, I'm telling you!) and girl who knew she was going to die (whose performance I loved so much. Brilliant casting there).

It's amazing that the DADT bill isn't watered down enough already without Congressional Democrats sliding a poison pill in there to be safe. I've said before that this was a meaningless bill just to appear vaguely progressive, but they'd apparently feel safer yet voting for a meaningless bill and then making it unpassable. I can't wait to see Obama's surprise when he gets heckled again for not using his political force to embiggen a part of his constituency.
