Super busy. Am suddenly curious about this. Apparently most kids entering college in the US this year don't know how to write in cursive. I suspect this is less a sign of the apocalypse than it feels like to me.

So, tell me things (as usual, poll is un-scientific and reflects my biases and experiences (and 49-year-olds can choose which age category they like better!) -- if the boxes don't work, my apologies and comments super welcome.):

I'm 40, write in print, have forgotten how to write cursive, and like to think I'm fully literate (since I have a Ph.D. in English). Any handwriting method is just a technique--while it can be useful, knowing or not knowing one particular technique has absolutely no relation to "literacy."

Even if it impedes communication?

(Not trying to be cheeky, as I know it may be hard to tell via theinternet, but genuinely curious. Like I said, if I couldn't read cursive, it would seriously impede my ability to fully communicate with people I study and work with.)
