Right, so Patty and I are currently shacked up in an airport DoubleTree watching True Blood thanks to massive thunderstorms in NYC that canceled our flight (but not before we sat on the tarmac forever and other fuckery).

Currently, I'm a little verklempt about the kitties, who we left on their own for this trip (as we often do when we go away for a few days). Now granted, they had plenty of food and water (and we left the toilet open just in case) and it wasn't super hot in the city over the last several days, but it's still a bit of time, and then extra 16 hours isn't thrilling me. Reassure me folks?

Also, ways in which I'm able to access Jack Harkness as a character when I write fic include:

- not looking remotely my age
- the weird relationship I have with the great lawn in Millennium Park
- airports, airport hotels and completely travel fuckery.

I suppose, at least it's not a volcano. (ETA: and yes, darlings, the vortex manipulator is still in the suitcase).

Goddamn.

I'm so, so curious about this. Care to share?

If I knew. There's something about the layout of the space and the stuff near it coupled with the view it gives of Chicago's skyline when you're lying down in it that just has this weird "and here we've preserved the plants of the planet from which this colony came." It's a very evocative space for me of fake future and exile and it gets my story ideas going.
